My wife & I caught the 4pm cruise included as part of 2 x day NYC Sightseeing pass with this the perfect way to spend our afternoon. The weather on 9 October (aside from being a little too sunny in certain photos) was great with it easy to get a seat & secure a vantage point for key landmarks. The crew were all friendly with the standout being the guide on the microphone Molly who shared plenty of information and cool personal experiences with a sense of humour which really added to the cruise experience. As a company who’s only been operating less than 6 months I’d say they off to a great start & would definitely recommend adding to this to part of your next visit.★

So there are some pros and cons with this tour. Pros are that you will avoid the rampant scams at this location and you will always go right to the front of some VERY long lines. If you want to visit Lady Liberty up close and personal AND see Ellis Island with a knowledgeable tour guide on a tight schedule, this is the tour for you. But there’s a con here: You are NOT going to have the time to see everything you want to see at each location. The Statue of Liberty offers great photo opportunities, a self guided audio tour, you can go under the Statue, and there’s a gift shop at each location. Pick two. After the 15 minute oral history that could frankly be condensed, you’ll be lucky to do two of them. There are much longer and more inclusive tours of the statue available, including a spiral staircase to the crown, but this turns it into an all day ordeal. Same deal on Ellis Island. You will have time to go upstairs, take some pictures, and go to the bathroom. I think these tours could each be lengthened by 45 minutes and they would be perfect. If you’re on a time crunch, this tour is perfect for you. If you are the type to want to see and do everything there is to do at a tourist location, you will end up being frustrated and disappointed with this one. It really just depends on what you’re looking for.
