An amazing adventure. It honestly felt like a private tour. Besides me, only one other person joined, so the whole trip was just the three of us. Hugo gives you as much time as you need and want. Apart from the main highlight, the sunrise, we drove around a large part of the eastern side of the island and saw much more than expected. The departure was planned for 6:30, but at 5:40 we had a check-in call. Hugo was checking the weather on webcams to make sure the trip would actually make sense, which I really appreciated. Throughout the tour he shares a lot of interesting stories about the island, its plants, local people, and everyday life there. I highly recommend this trip to everyone.

Fabulous 8 hour trip. Superb driver who was really chatty and informative. We visited one of the mountain peaks, Santana village, did a levada walk through a unesco forest, a sky walk and a rum tasting. Lucy told us a lot about the history of the island and showed us the wonderful vegetation.

We were taken to our start point and provided with the bikes and enough tuition to make them go. We had limited experience of e-bikes and Rosie was very reassuring. The trip was nicely planned, making our way from the relative isolation of Ponta Sao Laurenco to “downtown” Funchal, where Rosie was, again, on hand. Thanks to Rosie for her expertise (and flexibility), in making our bike ride go so smoothly.

Unfortunately, we couldn't take the eastern tour as planned due to strong winds, but the guide, sensing my disappointment at the change of plans, was simply fantastic. We talked the entire trip, and she explained perfectly everything we saw along the coast and all the types of whales and dolphins that live in these waters and are often spotted. She's clearly very knowledgeable and well-prepared, and she speaks perfect English, which isn't a given on the island. The boat is clean and nice, and the captain is very good at keeping the seas smooth. If I may offer one piece of advice, I'd suggest making more than one stop for swimming.


