Never having tried anything like this before, I was a bit apprehensive but I really needn't have worried. Ludger explained everything in detail before we got into the kayaks and really put me at my ease. It was great fun and the views of Heidelberg from the river were fabulous. Ludger stopped several times to point out places of interest and included lots of anecdotes relating to the history of the town (in German and English). It was all very enjoyable and I would definitely do it again, although next time I would wear gloves as the oars rubbed the skin between my thumb and forefinger a little, but maybe that's just me!

As with most all castles, a must see and visit adventure. Put your walking shoes on, you'll need them! Lots of cobblestones and the the castle itself will take your breath away. You'll also see the world's "largest wine barrel"... go with a guide to get all the stories behind the history...ie; the windows, etc.

It was fantastic how our guide Karl led us through Heidelberg. A very entertaining and interesting tour with lovely anecdotes. It was always easy to follow and understand everything, even if you're not particularly knowledgeable about history. Highly recommended! ☺️
