Reviews: 1-day tour to Shamakhi and Gabala in Azerbaijan [Depart from Baku + Daily departures + Hotel pickup]

A very well-organized and enjoyable day tour. Everything matched the description, the schedule was smooth, and the service was professional. Shamakhi and Gabala were beautiful, and the whole experience was comfortable and well planned. Highly recommended.

I don't know why this tour has some bad comments but for me its 100/100. Our guide Said is such a nice and knowledgeable guy that made this long tour amazing and enjoyable. The time on the way is 5 hours to and back, but luckily from Baku to Sheki there are several visiting points so it was not boring. The Jumah mosque has a long history, as well as Khan palace (super beautiful but fotos not allowed) and caravanserai. The hanging bridge was a little boring, but was also a opportunity to leave the bus for a while and enjoy the montain view.

My brother Sait is very experienced and loves his job. Even if the tour doesn't include Turkish, he explains and clarifies things to everyone individually, without discrimination, and even enriches the tour with informative "fun facts" without you asking. His friendly and humorous personality makes the tour unique. I definitely recommend him; a guide should be exactly like this.

Everything was set up and worked without any issues in Georgia. Internet usage drains quickly; we used it mainly for navigation and shared it with friends. When using Wi-Fi, I recommend switching to it manually or configuring your phone.
Reviews: Guba Khinalug & Candy Cane Mountains tour (by Old City Tours)
Guest User2024-09-17
A long day trip (as expected). The scenery was varied and interesting. We travelled along the dry Caspian coastline to the Five Finger Mountain. Our next stop was the Candy Cane Mountains, a structure of layers of red and light grey mudstone. We then started to climb up into the mountains through wooded areas. As we increased in elevation the trees fell away to very steep open grassed hills and mountains. Most of this time we followed a river, sometimes driving through very steep walled valleys, only about 30 metres wide. We stopped a few times to take in the stunning scenery. We arrived at Khinalug, a quaint little village punched on the side of a mountain. We were welcomed into a local house and shared a delightful local lunch. Afterward we walked through the village before starting our trip back to Baku. Our guide, Servi, was very personable, helpful and was able to answer most of our questions. She provided an interesting commentary throughout the trip, while pointing out places of interest and facts about Baku and our trip.
