Reviews: Athens: Meteora Monasteries Day Trip with Caves and Lunch
Guest User2026-03-04
We took a day tour from Athens to Meteora, and it was a great experience overall. Despite the long journey, the tour was very well organized, with a prompt 8:00 a.m. pickup and return around 10:30 p.m. The bus ride was comfortable and scenic, with beautiful mountain and lake views. Sitting on the right-hand side of the bus offers especially great views. Approaching Meteora, the dramatic cliffs topped with monasteries were absolutely breathtaking. We visited around three monasteries, each stunningly built into the cliffs. Our guide, Maria, was excellent—super knowledgeable, engaging, and patiently answered all our questions. Special thanks to her for making the tour memorable. We chose the lunch option, which was okay for the price. However, the restaurant stops for breakfast and dinner were expensive and not very good, so bringing your own food or snacks is a good idea. Overall, this was a fantastic day trip, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Athens.

Reviews: Meteora Sky City 1-day tour from Athens, Greece [Lunch Optional]

Meteora Sky City feels like excellent value for money.
And it's definitely worth a visit.
The domestic travel agency was very responsible, personally confirming with me.
The driver and guide service was superb. They worked very hard and without complaint.
They did everything they could to let tourists see more and more beautiful scenery. There were no extra charges for any activities; whether or not to enter the monastery was entirely up to your own preference.
