It was cheaper than buying it locally! I arrived in Taiwan on an early morning flight, and they seemed to be able to start from 7am, which was very helpful. I applied for a pre-loaded card, so I didn't have to go through the trouble of reloading it, which was convenient. The only downside is that you can't choose the design of the EasyCard.
