Reviews: Kandy Village Cooking Class

Wonderful experience! Very nice host, who told us about each spice and vegetable. She was also providing instructions on how to cook those. In the end we had 11 dishes which we could enjoy. It was really worth it.

I was exploring Nuawara Eliya alone and on foot, searching for beautiful places. I wasn't quite sure where to go, as all the travel guides suggested different things. Then I met a man with his tuk-tuk who offered to show me around Nuawara Eliya. At first, I was skeptical. It quickly became clear that the man loved his homeland very much and introduced me to Nuawara Eliya in a very warm and welcoming way. We drove around Lake Gregory and stopped at some beautiful photo spots. Afterwards, we went to a tea plantation where I was allowed to take some Ceylon tea seeds. We also drove through the jungle where we could admire enormous trees. We also visited a temple where I learned about the temple and the Buddhist way of life. When my backpack broke, he helped me find a replacement and kept me away from the tourist traps. All in all, a very beautiful and unforgettable experience, full of heart and with great attention to detail. I would do it again in a heartbeat! Many thanks!

Deen was our driver and was lovely, a very safe driver and very attentive to our needs. He got us to Adam’s peak and back safely. Sada was our guide and again was very attentive, stopping when we needed to as it is all steps the whole way up that go to a very steep gradient. I would just say the organisation could have been a little better as we were told to leave at 7pm instead of 9pm. This meant we arrived at Adam’s peak at 12am and the ‘sunrise’ didn’t come up until 6 am. We were expected to climb the peak and wait at the top for 2 hours in torrential rain and storm. The temple was shut so no way to see Buddhas footprint or anything. Very little shelter up there also. I know this wasn’t anyone fault and hence the reason for the high rating still. I would just recommend you do NOT do this tour unless it is the on season which I believe is December onwards or you will be disappointed.

Just back from a day trip to Kandy with Vidu. Had an amazing time. Absolutely appreciate how accomodative Vidu is especially when you are travelling with your family and a 4 year old kid. He is very patient, waits until you have a good look at the places and offers to take pictures for you which is wonderful. He does not hurry the trip and keeps it very flexible based on your interest. My daughter wanted to play in the beach and he was gracious to stop on the way just to let her play in the water & waited very patiently until she was done. Basolutely loved everything about the trip and would reccomend to everyone traveling to Srilanka! Thank you Vidu :)
