Masa was an excellent guide, we had a fabulous day getting out of the city and into nature, could not fault it! Comfortable transport, great information, very personable guide and the forest was magical but the absolute highlight was seeing snow monkeys. Also loved the village experience, art gallery (The Great Wave one), lunch and sake tasting fantastic . thank you Masa😀

Masa was a very knowledgeable and friendly guide who obviously loved Nagano and knew it well. He gave us a lovely personalised walking tour (there was only my husband and I on the tour) around the Zenkoji temple and provided lots of information about Japanese culture and religion and Nagano in particular. The food tasting was great too, especially the delicious Oyaki, cooked over hot fire, and the Matcha icecream went down a treat on a hot day. Highly recommended.

Lovely walk from post towns Tsugamo to Magome. The towns themselves are historic but the walk itself was also very beautiful, especially when you arrive into Magome at the golden hour. Hike is about 8+km with some ups and downs, requires moderate fitness. While the trail is relatively well marked, the post towns are not terribly accessible so best to go with a local operator. Great day!

The tour was really fun and informative. Our tour guide, Shawn, shared a lot of historical and cultural stories about the locations we were visiting and also the region surrounding us. Matsumoto castle is a great part of the regional history and definitely worth a visit. Be prepared for very steep narrow stairs. We also strolled down the nearby “Frog Street” and visited the shops and temple and had a delicious lunch of a regional fried chicken dish. We then visited the Edo-era town of Narai-juku. A very quaint well preserved post town. Many of the shops were closed, as the majority of their business is on the weekends, but the ones that were open, offered a variety of local wood and lacquered handicrafts.
