Reviews: Penang Hill Funicular Ticket
X***52025-05-27
It wasn't the best weather for our visit, but at least it stayed dry until we were headed back down! We enjoyed the funicular train and we saw great views anyway. There was a wonderful hilltop restaurant called David Brown's, and we had a lovely walk at The Habitat (ticket needed, but worth it) with the canopy walkways and the Biosphere Reserve where you can get even better views of Georgetown below. We saw lots of macaques, langurs and birds, plus a colugo during our walk through the rainforest. It was much quieter in the reserve too, possibly as many people didn't want to pay the entry fee.
My biggest tip is to go early (or late for sunset and night-time views) and spend a little extra to get Express Lane tickets for the funicular railway. When we visited, the queuing time for the standard ticket was 3 hours, but we only queued for a few minutes as the trains run regularly.
