Reviews: Hierve el Agua, Tule Tree, Mitla and Mezcal Distillery Tour
Guest User2024-10-16
Miguel was a great tour guide, very informative and engaging. Our group was diverse and fun to travel with. The transportation was nice, comfortable and spacious (especially compared to that of other tour groups in the area). Everything was well organized and fun. However, I think that they should inform people that the hike around Hierve el Agua is physically challenging. They say it's easy, but as an avid hiker, I would say it's moderate. A lady got stuck on the way up to the pools because she was completely out of breath. Also, be careful when walking near the edge of the petrified waterfall, as it's incredibly slippery. We saw a man slip and fall there, which was shocking. I think that the personnel there need to really inform people about the precautions they should take for the Hierve el Agua portion of the tour. Other than that, we'd absolutely tour with this group again.

This was a truly fantastic day. Everything we did was so fun and beautiful and the guide organized it very carefully so that we got to each location before it got busy. He was incredibly knowledgeable and seamlessly presented all the information and answered all our questions in both English and Spanish. You cannot come to Oaxaca without having this experience. So many amazing things all in one perfect day. And the drive through the countryside was gorgeous.

I took the all-day tour that included the giant tree in Santa Maria Tule, the hand-dyed and hand-woven rug factory in Teotitlán, Hierve de Agua, the ruins in Mitla, and a mezcal factory in Tlacolula. Moses was our guide, and he was excellent. He had a lot of energy and had lots to say about every place we visited. He made the trip very interesting. I was blown away be the processes involved in making the rugs. From how the sheep’s wool is turned into yarn, to how it is dyed, and then woven – all was very interesting and impressive. Hieve de Agua was unique. I walked down to the third viewpoint and was impressed with this amazing, gigantic statue created by nature. The restaurant we stopped at for lunch had lots of different choices and everything I ate was delicious. The mezcal factory was a fun finale to the day. One word of advice – Bring a snack to eat along the way. We didn’t eat lunch until 3:30pm.

We had a wonderful time seeing the Tule, Mitla, and weaving. Our guide, Angel, is great and the van was comfortable. It’s nice to have someone explain what’s going on at the various sites. I recommend you give it a try. It’s well worth the time and money.

Our experience with the Oaxaca Conmigo Tours was exceptional. They communicated throughout the entire process and the entire day was seamless. Armando was the best guide. He was on time and demonstrated extensive knowledge of the region's history and culture, making each site visit engaging and informative. His professionalism and friendly demeanor ensured a smooth and enjoyable tour. We highly recommend their services to anyone seeking an enriching Oaxaca experience.
Reviews: Paths of Mezcal

This trip was great. There was enough time at each location to take pictures and enjoy the view and take in the information about each place. The driver was great and very friendly, he had a great Playlist too and I felt safe and enjoyed the drive. Just something small to note is that they went to a different Mezcal place (Rey de Matatlan) but the English guide at that place was great and took his time to answer all of our questions. Also, if you decide to go for a different pick up you might have to wait for a bit as they make their way to picking up everyone. For water boils (hierve el agua), just make sure to wear shoes with enough traction as it can be very slippery even in dry areas! If you are not in good physical condition, I'd suggest you do the smaller hike instead of going all the way down/ up, it's quite a challenging hike if you're not used to lots of stairs and uneven ground. Overall I'd recommend this tour!
