I was very lucky to have a successful flight on my first trip to the South Island, and the weather was fantastic. However, the description on Trip.com was different from the actual flight time and content. The website said it included views of three glaciers and a 40-minute flight time including one snow landing. After explaining this to the staff at the local activities counter, they refunded our money. The helicopter was very cramped with six people, but they did give us a complimentary photo of us on the snow helicopter after the flight.

The helicopter flight and the glacier hike were fantastic. Due to the dense clouds, we had to spend the night on the glacier because no helicopters could fly. From the very first minute, the guides took excellent care of all the participants. Everything we needed for this exceptional situation was stored on the glacier (food, tents, mats, sleeping bags, etc.). It was an extraordinary experience. And I must emphasize again that the guides were a highly experienced team and put so much effort into everything. We always felt safe. I will never forget this experience!
