Konigssee

4.7/5
316 reviews
Konigsseeis located in an Alpine valley on the German-Austrian border, south of Berchtesgaden, and is a long, narrow lake carved by glaciers. The lake stretches approx. 7.7 km from north to south, with steep rock walls on both sides and mountains plunging directly into the water. On the west bank, the towering east face of the Watzmann mountain rises abruptly. The lake water is emerald green and clear, with a maximum depth of approx. 190 m. Taking a boat tour is the classic way to experience the lake. The boat makes a short stop in front of the Echo Wall in the middle of the lake. The captain plays a trumpet, and the sound bounces off the cliffs, creating multiple echoes. The route has several stops, and most people get off at the St. Bartholomew peninsula—the Pilgrimage Church of St. Bartholomew, with its red onion-shaped domes, is set against steep cliffs and reflected in the lake, making it an iconic sight here. If you get off at the final stop, Salet, you can reach the Obersee hidden in the mountain hollow after a short walk. Walking further, you can see the Röthbach Waterfall cascading down from a great height. You can also take the cable car up the Jennerbahn on the east bank to overlook this "green fjord" nestled among the mountains.Schonau am Konigssee · 34.1 km from Furth

Piazza San Marco

St. Mark's Square is unique among European city squares, being located in the city center, but not as noisy as other squares, thanks to Venice's quiet waterway traffic. As a Venice landmark, it is favored by tourists, photographers and even pigeons. Piazza San Marco has historically been the political, religious and festival center of Venice, the seat of all important Venetian government institutions, the seat of the Archbishop since the 19th century, and the venue of choice for many Venetian festivals. More than 200 years have passed since the style layout, this trapezoidal square on the edge of the Grand Canal still has its charm. The square is about 170 meters long, 80 meters wide to the east and 55 meters wide to the west. From New Year's Day to Carnival to Christmas, the Venetians host festivals big and small in Piazza San Marco, and even on normal days, people from all over the world flock to this square. There is a circle of exquisite Renaissance-style buildings on the side of the square. St. Mark's Basilica, the Mint, and the Doge's Palace are located on the east side of the square. On the south side are the bell tower and the new and old parliament buildings. Climbing the bell tower can overlook the whole square panorama. . On the west side is the Corell Museum, and on the back is a row of boutiques selling gold jewelry, glass, clothing, home decoration, etc. The storefront is not large, but the window design is very eye-catching. Between the Doge's Palace and the Venetian Prison on the other side of the river is the Bridge of Sighs, and between the square and the Grand Canal is the small Piazza San Marco, where you can see two tall columns standing on the river bank, one of At the top is the statue of San Marco's lion ready to fly. At the top of the other column stands a statue of the holy San Theodore accompanied by a crocodile, both patrons of Venice. During the day, the square is crowded with tourists, and there are groups of tourists everywhere, and large groups of pigeons are flying around the square. If you want to feed the pigeons, you can buy biscuits to feed them. If you encounter a black person who feeds pigeons and corn, don't take it. A small handful of rice is 10 euros. If you accept it, you can ask for money. However, white people generally only give 2-5 euros. If you see Asians in Italy, they will charge more. You can choose to stroll in the square, of course, you can also choose an outdoor cafe seat to sit and rest when you are tired. Although the restaurants and cafes in the square are very expensive, you won't mind because you can stop here for a while and let your eyeballs enjoy the feast of architectural art. The steeple church, Byzantine dome church, mosaic frescoes, marble carvings, and the elegant and elegant Doge's Palace next door are not to be missed. In addition, there are many street performers and mobile vendors in the square, selling some local souvenirs, the price ranges from 3-10 euros, you can buy some as souvenirs if you like. At the same time, the view of the square at night will not disappoint you. If you visit Piazza San Marco around 7:30 pm, you will be impressed by the sight in front of you. In each arch of the buildings around the square, there are lights emitting golden light, which illuminates the original white stone church with golden color, and the whole square is shrouded in a golden splendor. Some restaurants also have their own open-air LiveShow, and it is also a pleasure to watch a free performance here.Italy · Venice

Mirabell Palace & Garden

7.4
4.6/5
289 reviews
Mirabell Palace & Garden is located on the north bank of the Salzach River in Salzburg. Built in 1606 by Archbishop Dietrich for his lover Salome and their children, the palace was later renamed "Mirabell" by his successor. Today, it serves as the office of Salzburg's municipal authorities. The iconic scene from the movie The Sound of Music, where Maria and the children sing "Do-Re-Mi," was filmed by the garden's steps and fountain. The palace suffered a fire in 1818, with the marble staircase leading to the garden and the marble hall being among the surviving parts. The staircase is adorned with cherubs sculpted by Baroque artist Donner, each holding clouds in playful and endearing poses. The marble hall once echoed with the piano melodies of the young Mozart and is now a popular wedding venue, also frequently used for concerts and other events. The garden features a typical Baroque layout: statues of Greek and Roman mythological figures flank the entrance, while the central Pegasus fountain is surrounded by sculptures symbolizing the four elements. The green hedge theater at the rear, enclosed by neatly trimmed hedges, dates back to the early 18th century. The dwarf garden boasts a group of whimsically exaggerated stone gnomes, said to be modeled after real court figures. Unicorn sculptures scattered throughout add a fairy-tale charm to the solemn Baroque scenery. Climb the steps to the rose hill for a view of Salzburg Fortress on the opposite riverbank. The garden is adorned mainly with flower beds, hedges, and roses, making it especially delightful to visit during warmer seasons.Salzburg · 61.4 km from Furth

Magic Forest

4.2/5

Magic Forest is named for the unique, wild view created by the interplay of boulder piles formed by a landslide thousands of years ago and rushing streams. Ancient rocks cascaded into the valley floor, creating stone formations. Since then, trees have grown among the scattered rocks, their roots wrapping around moss-covered boulders, while clear streams flow between them, forming a natural landscape that feels like a pristine, secret realm. The forest area features well-maintained trails, with geological interpretation signs along the way that tell the story of the ancient geological changes caused by the landslide. Walking through it, the tall, dense forest, intertwined roots, and scattered boulders complement each other, adding a strong sense of narrative and exploration to the hike. The edge of the forest connects to an open lake, where the mirror-like water reflects the surrounding peaks. The scenery here changes with the seasons—green in spring, red in autumn, and snow-covered rocks in winter—showcasing the enduring beauty of the natural ecosystem in the Alpine valley.Ramsau · 36 km from Furth

St. Stephen's Cathedral

8.2
4.7/5
603 reviews
"St. Stephen's Cathedral is located in Stephansplatz in the center of Vienna's old town. It is the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Vienna and one of the city's symbols. The church was first built in the 12th century as a Romanesque parish church. In the 14th century, under the leadership of Duke Rudolf IV, it underwent large-scale expansion and gradually took on the form of a Gothic cathedral. From the late 15th century, it became the cathedral of the Bishop of Vienna. A fire at the end of World War II destroyed the roof, which was later rebuilt after the war. Over the centuries, many weddings and funerals of the Habsburg dynasty were held here. Mozart was married in this church, and his funeral also took place here. Particularly striking is the church's colorful roof: hundreds of thousands of glazed tiles form diamond patterns, with the Habsburg double-headed eagle emblem embedded on the southern slope and the coats of arms of Vienna and Austria on the northern slope, shimmering brilliantly under the sunlight. The roof has an extremely steep pitch, allowing rainwater to wash it clean and preventing snow from accumulating. The Gothic main tower on the south side stands over 130 m tall and is affectionately called "Steffl" (Little Steffl) by the locals. It once housed the watchmen's quarters, where they kept watch for fires across the city and sounded the alarm bells. The north tower, halted due to construction difficulties, reaches only half the height of the main tower. Upon entering the church interior, the baroque high altar at the far end depicts the martyrdom of the patron saint Stephen; the Wiener Neustadt altar on the north side is a gothic double-winged altar, revealing gilded wood carvings of the Virgin Mary's life when opened on Sundays, with Emperor Frederick III's "A.E.I.O.U." motto still visible on its base. The stone pulpit in the central courtyard features reliefs of the four doctors of the church, adorned with carvings of a toad and lizard biting each other on its handrail, while a self-portrait of the sculptor peeking from a window hides beneath the pulpit steps; the crucifix playfully nicknamed "Jesus with a toothache" by Viennese locals is also worth pausing to admire. The catacombs house remains of over ten thousand individuals, including victims relocated after plagues and the sarcophagi/copper urns of dozens of Habsburg family members; beside the apostle choir stalls, Frederick III's red marble sarcophagus carved with over two hundred figures is regarded as a masterpiece of medieval stone sculpture. If your physical condition allows, you can climb the observation deck via the over 300 spiral stone steps of the south tower to overlook the continuous red-tiled roofs of Vienna's old town. The north tower has an elevator, allowing you to admire the approx. 20-ton "Pummerin" bell up close—one of the few giant bells in Austria and among the top-ranking surviving large bells in Europe. It only rings during important festivals like Christmas and New Year, with its deep chimes resonating throughout the entire old town on New Year's Eve.Austria · Vienna

Marienplatz

Marienplatz is the central square of Munich's old town. Since the founding of Munich in 1158, it has been the city's main square. The old and new town halls stand on the north and east sides of the square respectively, making it the true "urban living room" of Munich. Below the square is an important hub where suburban trains and subways intersect. Most attractions in the old town are within walking distance from here, and many travelers choose Marienplatz as the starting point for their Munich visit. When FC Bayern Munich wins championships, the team traditionally waves to fans on the square from the town hall balcony. At the center of the square stands the Marian column erected in 1638, featuring a golden statue of the Virgin Mary standing on a crescent moon, holding a scepter in her right hand and cradling the infant Jesus in her left. The base of the column is adorned with bronze statuettes of angels subduing mythical beasts at each corner, now serving as the visual focal point of the square. To the north, the new town hall is a dark-spired Gothic Revival building. Its tower houses a glockenspiel that performs daily at 11 am and noon, with upper puppets reenacting a medieval jousting tournament and lower puppets performing the traditional Bavarian coopers' dance. The show concludes with a golden rooster crowing, and the square is often packed with travelers looking up in anticipation before the performance begins. Opposite the town hall entrance lies the Fischbrunnen, a bronze wishing fountain dating back to the Middle Ages. According to local tradition, people wash their wallets in its waters on Ash Wednesday to invite financial luck. To the east, the old town hall boasts elegant spires, harmonizing with the onion-domed Frauenkirche to the northwest. The south tower of the Frauenkirche offers elevator access to its summit, providing a splendid vantage point to overlook the old town's red-tiled roofs and gaze at the distant Alps. Though the square itself is compact, it encapsulates centuries of Munich's history within its surrounding architecture, remaining vibrant at any time of visit.Germany · Munich

Lake Hallstatt

329 reviews
Lake Hallstatt is located in the Salzkammergut region of Austria and is an Alpine lake carved by glaciers. It has a long, narrow surface and towering cliffs on both banks, resembling a fjord. The lake reaches a depth of 125m and has clear water; it is named after the town of Hallstatt on its shore. When the water is calm, the surface reflects the peaks of the Dachstein Mountains like a mirror. It is often shrouded in mist in the early morning, and the mountain forests are colorful in the fall. A traditional wooden flat-bottomed boat called a "Fuhr" is still preserved on the lake. It has been used to transport salt and goods on the lake since the 13th century, and this boating skill has now been included in the list of intangible cultural heritage. Every year on Corpus Christi, local residents hold a traditional procession on the lake. People decorate the flat-bottomed boats with flowers and set up altars on them. The bishop, choir, and people dressed in traditional costumes travel by boat on the lake to perform rituals, a unique folk custom that has continued for hundreds of years. In addition, the clear water of the lake also attracts diving enthusiasts. Sunken ancient trees and the wreckage of old salt transport ships are preserved underwater, and there is even an underwater altar. Tourists can take sightseeing cruises around the lake, and looking back at the town of Hallstatt from the lake is a classic postcard view. There are walking trails and bicycle paths on the east bank, suitable for hiking or cycling to enjoy the lake and mountain scenery.Hallstatt · 76.1 km from Furth

Dolomites are located in the southern foothills of the Alps and are renowned for their unique dolomite landscape. Unlike other mountain ranges in the Alps, the mountains here are primarily composed of dolomite, with vertical fractures in the rock forming jagged ridges and steep cliffs. At sunrise and sunset, the dolomite reflects warm hues ranging from pink to deep red. This light phenomenon is known as alpenglow, and it is one of the natural phenomena of the Dolomites. Multiple iconic landscapes are distributed along the mountain range: the jagged ridge of Seceda pierces the sky, with alpine meadows spreading out at its feet; the three massive rock peaks of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo rise abruptly, forming the iconic skyline of the Dolomites. Summer is the primary season for hiking, with numerous trails crossing alpine meadows and pine forests, dotted with family-run mountain huts along the way for rest and dining. In winter, the Dolomites transform into a ski destination, with ski slopes connecting multiple valleys. The entire region blends Italian and Austrian culture, with architectural styles featuring characteristics of both.Italy · Rocca Pietore

The Grand Canal of Venice is the main waterway in Venice. It is in an inverse S shape along the natural waterway from St. Mark's Basilica to St. Chiara Church, and is connected with many small canals. Much of the city's traffic travels through these waterways. The Grand Canal is an inverted S shape, winding from the Roman Forum in the northwest to St. Mark's Square. It is about 4 kilometers long, about 6 meters deep, and 40 to 100 meters wide. It is the most important traffic artery in Venice. There are more than 100 ancient buildings on both sides of the coast. Every September, there is a traditional regatta in Venice, which is a race of gondolas and other traditional boats on the Grand Canal.Italy · Venice

D23 Schönau-King's Lake-Ramsau-Back Lake-Stay in Lofersalach Valley King's Lake is located 5 kilometers south of Berchtesgaden, a small town on the border between Germany and Austria. It is known as the most beautiful lake in Germany. It is named after the shape of the surrounding peaks, such as the peaks symbolizing the king and queen, their children and the witch peak lying down. It is the deepest lake in Germany, with a maximum depth of 200 meters. Surrounded by mountains, the lake water is clear, and there is no pollution in the lake when electric boats travel. Wandering by boat, on the cliffs of the "Echo Wall", is a famous program for cruise ships: the captain blows the trumpet facing the cliff, and the echo can be clearly heard, and then takes the hat to collect tips. St. Bartholomew's Chapel is a landmark on the west bank of the Hirschau Peninsula of King's Lake. It has a unique shape and is known as a representative of the Baroque style. Go to the pier at the south end of the lake and then go forward to the upper lake. The lake is not big, but the color is comparable to the Five Flower Sea in Jiuzhaigou! The southern end of the upper lake is a pasture, and there are many swimmers who are not afraid of the cold by the lake! The dreamy colors can only be explained by pictures!

The photo was taken at Piazza San Marco in the heart of Venice, near the famous St. Mark’s Basilica and the Campanile bell tower. This is one of the most iconic and historic places in the city, surrounded by beautiful architecture, cafes, and live music. The square is easy to reach on foot from Rialto Bridge or by Vaporetto water bus to San Marco station. Sunset and evening are especially beautiful here because the lights and reflections create a magical atmosphere perfect for photos and videos.I would recommend visiting Piazza San Marco both early in the morning and in the evening because the atmosphere feels completely different. Morning is quieter and better for photos without crowds, while the evening feels romantic with live music and beautiful lighting. I also suggest exploring the nearby small streets and canals because some of the most authentic Venice experiences are hidden away from the main tourist areas. Be careful with pigeons and always check restaurant prices before sitting down near the square.

Mirabell Palace and Garden is one of the most beautiful attractions in Salzburg. The palace is elegant and full of charm, with lovely architecture and a rich history that reflects the city’s cultural heritage. I enjoyed walking through the gardens, especially the colorful flower beds, neatly trimmed hedges, and graceful fountains. The famous marble statues and the view toward the fortress made the visit even more memorable. The palace itself was also impressive, with its refined rooms and peaceful atmosphere. Overall, Mirabell Palace and Garden offers a wonderful mix of beauty, history, and relaxation. It is a must-visit for anyone exploring Salzburg, and I would gladly visit again.

I visited Marienplatz in Munich and really enjoyed the lively atmosphere there. It is the main square of the city, surrounded by beautiful historic buildings and always full of energy. One memorable moment for me was hearing the town hall clock music play at the New Town Hall—it added a charming and unique touch to the whole experience, even though I did not stay for the full show. I also enjoyed walking around the square, watching people, and relaxing at a nearby café. It is a great place to feel the heart of Munich, with many attractions and shopping streets close by. Overall, Marienplatz is a must-visit spot that captures both the history and daily life of the city.
