Kathmandu Durbar Square was once the site where the city-state's kings were crowned, and today, this square is a magnificent World Heritage Site in Kathmandu. The square is formed by the open Basantapur Square to the south, the main temple area to the west, and the old palace area to the northeast. Newari-style buildings with red brick foundations and dark wood-carved eaves are distributed throughout, with dozens of temples and shrines of various sizes featuring intricate carvings, making it a place worth slowing down to admire. Many visitors climb the steps to look down at the hustle and bustle of the square. During the Indra Jatra festival every fall, the square hosts a grand chariot procession, which is a great opportunity to experience the traditional festive atmosphere of Nepal.Nepal · Kathmandu

Phewa Lake is the second largest lake in Nepal. When the weather is clear and the lake is calm, snow-capped peaks are clearly reflected in the water. In the windless early morning, the lake surface is like a mirror, which is an iconic view of Pokhara. There is also a Tal Barahi Temple on a small island in the center of the lake, which can only be reached by boat, with wooden boats carrying pilgrims and tourists constantly coming and going. The Lakeside area on the north shore is a popular tourist hub in Pokhara, where hotels, restaurants, cafes, and small shops line the streets, creating a lively and relaxed atmosphere. The southwest shore is covered by dense forests, with few visitors, retaining an original and tranquil atmosphere.Nepal · Pokhara

Nagarkot is the edge of the Kathmandu Valley, more than 2,100 meters above sea level, known as "the viewing platform of the Himalayas". When the weather is clear and the visibility is high, you can overlook the Himalayas on the opposite side. From Mount Everest on the east side to the Annapurna Mountains on the west side, the lined up snow-capped mountains are quite impressive. The hotel gathering place on the top of the mountain is a good place for viewing the scenery. It takes ten minutes to walk north from the bus station in Nagarkot to the hotel gathering place on the top of the mountain. There is also a temple on the top of the mountain, and you can see some simple carvings. This hill is where you can see the snow-capped mountains, and most hotels here have a viewing platform with a good view, and some can even watch the sunrise through the window in the room.Nagarkot · 86.4 km from Gauri Sankar

Thamel is the core district where tourists gather in Kathmandu, serving as a base for travelers from all over the world. Hotels, restaurants, bookstores, and currency exchange shops are densely packed along the narrow alleys, earning it the nickname Little Hong Kong of Kathmandu due to its bustling trade. The area is a maze of crisscrossing alleys and dense shops, best explored on foot, making it perfect for leisurely shopping during the day. After dark, the area transforms. Neon signs light up, and music drifts from bars and rooftop restaurants. Dining on a rooftop terrace offers a view of the lively nightlife below.Nepal · Kathmandu

Travelers can watch 15 well-known snow peaks such as Sagarmatha and Lotz nearby. There is also an alpine airport with an altitude of 4267 meters in Chambord. There are daily flights to and from Kathmandu. Swayambhuna Temple is located on a hill about 2 kilometers west of Kathmandu city. It has a history of more than 2,500 years. It is an ancient Buddhist temple in Nepal and is listed as a world cultural heritage. Because there are many monkeys here, it is also called "Monkey Temple". 1. The golden pagoda in the center goes up the stairs to the top of the Monkey Temple. There are monkeys scurrying around all the time. Don't take food in your hands, otherwise, the monkeys will snatch it away. When you come to the Monkey Temple, you will see the golden pagoda in the center. Although it is smaller than the Buddha Pagoda with a similar shape, it is very imposing because it stands on the top of the mountain. There are a pair of big eyes on each of the four sides of the stupa, as if staring at all things in the world. There is a big question mark at the position of the nose. It is actually the Nepalese number "one", which symbolizes harmony and unity; above the Buddha's eyes is a spiral ring. At the top of the canopy is a huge gemstone, which means Nirvana. The base of the tower is a huge white hemisphere, and there are many small stone pagodas around it. 2. Overlooking the bottom of the mountain and feeling the peace In addition to the stupa, there are some other temple buildings on the top of the mountain, and many devout believers can be seen. After admiring the building, walk to the observation deck next to it, overlooking the densely packed houses under the mountain, which are not high but colorful. Many people like to come here at dusk, it will have a different flavor. Many tourists will sit in a daze on the steps under the pagoda or on the chairs by the small square, feeling the peaceful atmosphere here. From time to time, pigeons flew over and landed on the square or stayed on the pagoda. It was peaceful. Of course, there are many monkeys here, and they are not afraid of people at all. You can take pictures of them casually, but you need to pay attention to your belongings, and please don't provoke them. There is also a panoramic view of Kathmandu and the Himalayas when the weather is fine, especially at sunset.Nepal · Kathmandu

Bodha Stupa is a famous building in the area. It is located in the northeast of Kathmandu. 1. The appearance of the Bodha Stupa is extraordinary. It has a huge white dome with extraordinary momentum, giving people a feeling of generosity. There is a square tower on the huge white covered bowl, and there are huge Buddha eyes painted on all sides, indicating that the Buddha's Dharma is boundless and omniscient. Above the Buddha's eyes is a golden minaret. There are more than 100 small relief sculptures of Amitabha Buddha on the outer edge of the tower base. The small Buddha statues are stained with red paint and wear yellow flowers. 2. A grand festival is held every year. Every year around February of the Gregorian calendar, thousands of pilgrims pour in from all directions, decorating the Bodha Stupa. 3. Five-color flags and prayer wheel flags have five colors, which represent the five basic elements that make up the world, red for fire, blue for sky, white for clouds, green for water, and yellow for surface.Kathmandu · 99.9 km from Gauri Sankar

Kathmandu Durbar Square is a fascinating place where history, culture, and architecture come together in the heart of Kathmandu. Walking through the square feels like stepping back in time, surrounded by ancient temples, royal palaces, and beautifully carved wooden structures. The atmosphere is lively with locals, visitors, and traditional vendors, making it a vibrant cultural hub. Highlights like the Kumari Ghar and Hanuman Dhoka Palace showcase Nepal’s rich heritage and craftsmanship. Despite the damage from the 2015 earthquake, restoration work continues, preserving its timeless beauty. Visiting during sunset adds a magical touch, as the golden light reflects off the historic buildings, creating a truly unforgettable experience.

Nagarkot near Kathmandu, Nepal is one of the best places to view snow-capped mountains. Find a better hotel, watch the snow-capped mountains in the distance while tasting the hotel’s food. Accompanied by alpine delicacies, do you feel like your life has reached its peak?

On my first day at Kathmandu, Swayambhu Mahachaitya was my first stop. Unlike other tourist spots, I didn't have to purchase tickets for this. (Either that or i missed the ticketing booth😭)Good place to immerse in. Cafes around, with souvenir shops and also amazing view of the city.
