Golden Horn Beach is located in Croatia and is one of the beaches along the Adriatic Sea. This unique V-shaped beach gets its name from its shape, which resembles a golden horn, and it extends approx. 500 m into the sea. The beach is made up of fine white pebbles that shimmer with a golden glow in the sunlight. The clear, turquoise water contrasts sharply with the white beach, creating a charming view. The beach is surrounded by lush pine forests on both sides, providing natural shade. It is suitable for various water activities, such as swimming, snorkeling, and windsurfing. The beach offers umbrella and lounge chair rentals, as well as several restaurants and bars serving local food and drinks. It is worth noting that the shape and size of the beach change with the wind direction and currents, which means every visit may offer a different experience. The recommended time to visit is May–October, when the weather is warm and pleasant.Bol · 18.3 km from Hvar Town

Diocletian's Palace, located in Split, Croatia, was the palace where the Roman Emperor Diocletian lived after his abdication. Built in AD 295-305, the palace is a magnificent seaside fortress and a giant country house. The entire palace is about 215 meters long from north to south, and the palace wall is about 2.1 meters thick. The ruins of the palace are part of the historical core of Split and were declared a World Heritage Site in 1979.Split · 37.3 km from Hvar Town

Old Split

4.4/5
28 reviews
Old Split is located on the Dalmatian coast of Croatia, on the eastern shore of the Adriatic Sea, and is the birthplace of the entire city of Split. What makes it special is that the old town "grew" out of the fabric of a Roman palace: approximately 1,700 years ago, after the Roman Emperor Diocletian abdicated, he built his residence here. In the 7th century, when the nearby ancient Roman city of Salona was destroyed by war, refugees moved into the thick walls of the palace to settle, and a city thus took root within the palace walls. Today, Diocletian's Palace still occupies about half of the old town's area. Thousands of residents live within the palace walls, where cafes, restaurants, and small shops are squeezed under the same roofs as ancient Roman foundations and colonnades. It is less of a ruin and more of a "living" Roman palace city. The highlights of the visit are concentrated in the core area of the palace: the Peristyle was the square in front of the main hall at that time, surrounded by stone columns. Beside the steps lies an Egyptian black granite sphinx that is even older than the palace, an antique that Diocletian brought back from Egypt; the Emperor's Mausoleum was later converted into the Cathedral of Saint Domnius, with a Romanesque bell tower standing beside it, while Jupiter's Temple became the baptistery of the cathedral; the vaulted halls of the palace cellars are well-preserved, and the deep passages were used as a filming location for the city of Meereen in the TV series "Game of Thrones," making it a popular spot for fans to visit; the four gates named after metals—the Golden Gate, Silver Gate, Brass Gate (Porta Aenea), and Iron Gate—serve as natural landmarks for orienting yourself while walking through the old town. If you encounter Klapa singers performing a cappella under the dome of the Vestibule, the a cappella harmonies echoing off the stone walls will be an unforgettable moment in the old town. The old town is also dotted with museums such as the City Museum and the Ethnographic Museum, with collections ranging from Roman stone carvings to folk costumes; every summer, the Split Summer Festival, which has been held since the 1950s, turns open-air venues like the Peristyle into stages, with operas, plays, ballets, and concerts performed in rotation. When you are tired of walking, you can go to the Riva promenade on the south side of the palace to enjoy the sea breeze and watch the cruise ships come and go. The alleys of the old town are narrow, and walking inside feels like a maze. Wandering through them casually makes it easy to stumble upon courtyards and small shops hidden in corners. In the early morning and evening, there are relatively fewer tourists, allowing you to better experience the daily atmosphere of this ancient city.Split · 37.4 km from Hvar Town

Trulli, Rione Monti

15 reviews
Trulli, Rione Monti is one of the best-preserved complexes of conical stone dwellings in Europe. Trulli are a unique type of dry-stone construction built without mortar, relying solely on limestone blocks stacked in layers, with conical roofs formed by stones corbelled outward layer by layer. This architectural technique dates back to prehistoric times and is still used in the Itria Valley today. Originally scattered across the countryside as farmhouses, animal shelters, or storage for farm tools, Alberobello is where these trulli are clustered together. The town preserves over 1,500 trulli, mainly concentrated in two areas: the Rione Monti district in the south features approx. 1,000 conical-roofed houses, with various handicraft shops lining the streets, and many shop owners invite visitors inside to see the interior structure of the trulli; the Rione Aia Piccola district is smaller and retains a more authentic residential character, with no commercial shops, offering a quieter atmosphere perfect for a leisurely stroll. As you wander through, you will see layers of white limestone walls and gray conical roofs.Italy · Alberobello

We stayed in Bol for 3 nights and spent the second night at the Golden Horn beach. It is a leisurely 30 minute walk. There are restaurants, bars and lots of water sports on the beach. We also bought foam mats for the beach (as the beach is very rocky).

Diocletian's Palace, located in the heart of Split's Old Town, is more of an old town than a palace. Two-thousand-year-old stone walls have blended into cafes and residential buildings; the clock tower, a later addition, offers panoramic views of red rooftops and the Adriatic Sea. The cellars now house souvenir stalls, the air thick with the scents of stone and olive oil. A few meters apart outside the south water gate, the masts of yachts and ancient Roman columns create a sense of time standing still. It's usually quite crowded, but in the evening, after the tourists have left, it quiets down, and you can hear your own footsteps on the cobblestone streets.

This island is very beautiful, but a good thing is that there are really not many tourists. Maybe everyone is too busy. It is a little far from the city, but the environment is really good and the beach quality is very good.

When the weather is good, this place is absolutely beautiful, so my reminder is to make sure the sky is clear before you go, so that the photos will look good. Otherwise, if it is gray, although it is also beautiful, the photos taken will not have that fairy-tale feeling. The photos below were taken on a cloudy day, so the sky is not very blue. This place is definitely worth a visit, especially in the summer. It is very beautiful. There are many special shops, restaurants, cafes and places for handmade leather products.
