This time, I took four elders on a three-star cruise on the Li River, and the overall trip exceeded my expectations. It's perfect for seniors, and I highly recommend it!
I did a lot of research beforehand, comparing different types of boats, and choosing the three-star cruise was definitely the right decision. The boat is large and very stable, with minimal swaying during the journey, so the elders weren't prone to seasickness. The cabin seats are spacious, and the aisles are wide, making it easy to get up, move around, and use the restrooms. The onboard restrooms are clean and odor-free, which is a huge plus for seniors. We bought window seats, and the cruise followed the Li River downstream, offering the textbook-perfect Guilin landscape. The towering peaks, winding blue waters, and classic sights like the Nine Horses Painting Mountain and the Yellow Cloth Reflection all came into view. The expansive views left the elders constantly marveling at the picturesque scenery.
The cruise pace was leisurely, without any rush. We could go to the second deck for photos and to enjoy the breeze; the high railings on the deck provided a sense of security. The staff were friendly and provided clear explanations, pointing out viewpoints and looking after older passengers. Boarding and disembarking were orderly and without any crowding or chaos. Before the trip, I was worried that the elderly would get tired from standing for long periods, but this boat allowed us to sit and enjoy the scenery most of the time, taking breaks whenever we got tired. The transfers after disembarking were also smooth, without requiring a long walk.
The only downside was the limited selection of light meals on board; we brought our own water and snacks, which was very convenient.
When traveling the Li River with elders, if you want a smooth and comfortable trip without too much hassle, a three-star cruise ship is a safe and reliable choice. It allows you to see the essence of the Li River scenery at a leisurely pace, truly experiencing "traveling through a painting"—a very relaxing and unforgettable journey.
