Stone City, Zanzibar Stone City is one of the oldest districts of Zanzibar, located on the west coast of Anguga Island, the main island of the Zanzibar archipelago. Formerly the capital of the Sultanate of Zanzibar, it was historically a center of the spice trade and the 19th-century slave trade.
