The sandy beach in the park is soft, long and of good quality, which is very popular among tourists. You can sunbathe on the silver-white beach, swim in the clear water, and sail in the endless sea. Abel Tasman National Park is a more distinctive park in New Zealand. It is a park with a mixture of North Island and South Island plants, allowing people to enjoy the vegetation of both places in one place. There are many wild animals and birds in the park, including petrels, penguins, gulls, terns, herons, deer, goats, wild boars, etc. Here you can take a short walk, enjoy the beautiful lakeside scenery, listen to the singing of the birds, and immerse yourself in the mysterious world of the beech forest.Awaroa · 12 km from Marahau

Cardboard Cathedral is a transitional church built in Christchurch after the 2011 earthquake. Completed in 2013, it was built to replace the old Gothic cathedral in the city center that was severely damaged in the earthquake. It was designed by Japanese architect Shigeru Ban, who is famous for his paper tube architecture and has long used paper tube structures for post-disaster reconstruction around the world. The building itself is worth a close look. It has an overall A-frame shape and stands over 20m tall. The two sloping sides are lined with nearly 100 rigid paper tubes, which have been treated to be waterproof and fire-retardant. The gaps between them allow daylight to gently filter into the interior, and the entrance features a large triangular window made of stained glass. The interior can accommodate about 700 people. Wooden pews and soft lighting make the space quiet and peaceful, and it is also frequently used for concerts and community events.New Zealand · Christchurch

Point Kean Viewpoint is a coastal rocky area where you can observe wild fur seals without going out to sea. It is home to colonies of New Zealand fur seals, which can be seen lounging on the nearshore rocks year-round, sunbathing, sleeping, or rolling and playing in the tide pools. Visitors can often encounter these adorable marine animals as soon as they step out of their vehicles. The viewpoint is roughly divided into two parts: the side near the trail is where you'll often see large male fur seals, while the rocky platform facing the open sea is the breeding area. Walking up the trail to higher ground offers a panoramic view of the seal colonies and the deep blue Pacific Ocean.New Zealand · Kaikoura

The dark basalt walls are detailed with intricate patterns of light-colored limestone, while the clock towers, spires, and arcades enclose quiet courtyards, making it a highly recognizable architectural complex in the city. It was formerly Canterbury College, founded in the 19th century. After the college moved to a new campus in the 1970s, this complex was converted into an arts center. Pancake Rocks Lookout

4.6/5
53 reviews
Pancake Rocks Lookout is a coastal limestone landscape near the village of Punakaiki on the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island, and is part of Paparoa National Park. It is named for its layered rock formations that resemble stacks of pancakes. About 30 million years ago, the remains of marine life and sediment were deposited repeatedly on the seabed, forming alternating layers of hard and soft rock. After tectonic uplift exposed them above sea level, rain, wind, and waves continuously eroded the softer layers, creating the unique, pancake-like appearance. There are also several blowholes along the rocky crevices; at high tide, seawater is forced through them, and when the waves are strong, water shoots into the air—a sight worth waiting for during your visit.New Zealand · Punakaiki

Castle Hill, New Zealand is located along the road from Christchurch to Arthur's Pass and the West Coast, and is an alpine meadow surrounded by the Torlesse Range and the Craigieburn Range. Thousands of limestone boulders are scattered across the meadow. Sculpted over years by wind, frost, and rain, they have rounded contours and are riddled with holes, looking from a distance like the ruins of an ancient stone city. It was once a route for Māori traveling between the east and west coasts and holds special significance for local Māori tribes, while various rare alpine plants grow among the rock faces and the meadow. This boulder field is famous in the climbing community, where the pockets and holds on the rock faces create many unique bouldering routes, making it one of the iconic sites for rock climbing in New Zealand.New Zealand · Castle Hill

There are really many such beautiful and deserted beaches in New Zealand, whether they are named or unnamed. Everyone appreciates things from different angles and has their own preferences. Sometimes I feel like “the mountains and rivers are so boring!”

To see the cardboard church, it's important to understand its origins and story. When I visited, I happened to encounter a Maori students' choir, and the headmaster gave me a brochure about the church's reconstruction after an earthquake.

The peninsula trails are beautiful. They're only a ten-minute drive from where you've finished whale watching. One trail runs up the mountain, offering panoramic views of the bay; the other is along the beach, leading to Seal Point where you can get up close to groups of baby seals. If you have time, you should definitely explore both; they offer completely different scenery.

It was the first time I saw sea lions gather so close. There were a lot of sea lions on the trail. Generally, humans and sea lions are required to keep a safe distance of two meters. They were still very lazy, lying on the rocks, a little cute and a little bit charming.

The art center is actually not very big, and there are no particularly shocking works. It is filled with some cheerful and modern handicrafts. I feel there is nothing to lose by just looking at them, and it can be regarded as a place to kill time.

Thousand-layered rock, also known as Thousand-layered pancake rock, is a unique scenic spot on the west coast of South Island. The scenery is spectacular. Huge rocks shaped like thousand-layered pancakes protrude from the cliffs into the sea, some are pillars supporting the sky, and some are connected into a piece, which is magnificent. Stop and watch ~ gusts of sea breeze, layers of waves, and birds singing; move to change the scenery ~ the ingenious and colorful works of nature are impressed by the beauty and power of nature. Comprehensive facilities. The trails, viewing platforms, and signboards in the scenic area are set up very scientifically and comprehensively. After entering the scenic area, follow the trail and go around clockwise to fully appreciate the entire scenic area without taking any detours; standing on the viewing platform, the most spectacular scenery is right in front of you, and you can see it at a glance; following the instructions of the signboard, you can not only increase your knowledge, but also take memorable photos. Convenient transportation. Starting from Greymouth, it takes 45 minutes to drive north along the road to the scenic area gate on the side of the road. Parking is also very convenient. Many tourists choose it as the first stop of the counterclockwise tour around the South Island.
