CA-1 is a highly iconic coastal self-drive route on the West Coast of the United States, stretching over 1,000 km along the Pacific coastline and connecting coastal towns from the San Francisco Bay Area, Monterey, Big Sur, San Simeon, and Morro Bay all the way to Los Angeles. Its highlight is concentrated in the Big Sur section between Monterey, Carmel-by-the-Sea, and San Simeon: the road winds along steep cliffs, with the surging Pacific Ocean on one side and mountains and redwood forests on the other. There are many scenic parking areas along the way where you can pull over at any time to enjoy the sea breeze and watch the waves crash against the cliffs. There are several highly recognizable scenes along this section: the Bixby Bridge, which spans the canyon, is an elegantly designed concrete arch bridge, and there are almost always vehicles parked at the bridgehead for photos; McWay Falls in Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park drops directly from the cliff top onto the beach in the cove, making it a rare beach waterfall in California; the sand at Pfeiffer Beach has a faint purple hue due to the weathering of manganese garnet in the cliffs; further south in the San Simeon area, groups of northern elephant seals can be seen sunbathing on the beach year-round, and you can also visit Hearst Castle on the mountain nearby. The Old Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey at the northern end and the town of Carmel-By-The-Sea also have their own unique charm.United States · Monterey County

Morro Bay is a tranquil bay. Although the open sea pounds the shore, the bay itself remains as calm as an inland lake. That round hill is called Morro Rock, and Morro Bay takes its name from it. Morro in Spanish means a round hill. Morro Rock formed millions of years ago in volcanic eruptions and is a 176m volcanic rock monolith.Morro Bay · 17m from downtown

San Luis Obispo is located on the Pacific coast of California, USA. It has a very livable climate and a very low crime rate, so people who live here are lucky, and many tourists come here for outdoor sports. One of the top three livable cities in North America. The city is also a major producer of California wine, with a large number of wineries nearby. This is one of the must-visit attractions in Southern California. Along the coastline of California, you can experience the beautiful European style, which is very worth visiting.San Luis Obispo · 19.6 km from Morro Bay

Griffith Observatory is located on the southern slope of Mount Hollywood in Griffith Park. This white-domed building, completed in 1935, is a classic spot in Los Angeles for watching sunsets and night views. The observation deck offers an expansive view, overlooking the Los Angeles Basin, the downtown skyline in the distance, and the Pacific coastline, while facing the nearby "Hollywood" sign. At dusk, the sun sinks toward the coastline, and as night falls, the city lights gradually fill the entire basin, creating a particularly magnificent scene. Films such as "Transformers" and "La La Land" have been shot here. The museum is packed with highlights: the Foucault pendulum hanging in the central hall swings continuously, periodically knocking down wooden pegs on its surrounding rail, visually demonstrating Earth's rotation. The dome is encircled by astronomical-themed murals painted by artist Hugo Ballin. The lower exhibition hall features a model of the solar system's planets suspended from the ceiling, while a massive photo wall spanning tens of meters displays millions of galaxies, accompanied by a statue of Einstein pointing toward it. In the central dome theater, visitors can recline in their seats and follow the live guide to explore the stars and the cosmos. During daytime visits, travelers can observe real-time solar images through the solar telescope in the exhibition hall. On clear nights, the rooftop Zeiss refracting telescope is open to the public for stargazing, and millions of travelers have gazed at the stars through it since its construction. To catch both sunset and night views in one trip, it's recommended to head up the mountain early, allowing ample time for exhibitions and waiting for nightfall. Weekends and holidays draw large crowds, often causing traffic congestion on the mountain road.United States · Los Angeles

Driving along California's Highway 1, my hands were aching from gripping the wheel for so long. The coastal section was winding and twisting, with waves crashing white against the cliffs below. I stopped by the roadside to watch the seals; those lazy guys just rolled on their backs, not moving an inch. The Big Sur Bridge was quite photogenic, but I was too busy watching the road to cross it. We kept stopping and starting, turning into every viewpoint we saw to enjoy the breeze. Just as the gas tank was almost empty, we arrived in town; a burger and a Coke were the perfect comfort food.

Actually, the queue wasn't too long, but the speed pass saved a lot of time. It was easy to buy and the entry was smooth. The most fun ride was Mario. The roller coaster looked a bit scary, and although I was tempted, it wasn't suitable for older people, so I skipped it. Los Angeles is too sunny, so be sure to take precautions against the sun.

Morro Rock is a volcanic plug in central California, United States, located at the entrance to the Morro Bay Harbor on the Pacific Coast. A causeway connects it to the coast, making it a tie island. The 177-meter-high rock is protected as the Morro Rock California Preserve. Morro Rock is composed primarily of dacite, an igneous volcanic rock that was formed 20 million years ago.

This hotel is a great getaway! Very clean and the service was outstanding. The amenities are also great. Only good things to say about this hotel. This hotel is perfectly located downtown, a few steps to popular restaurants and shops. The hotel is very stylish, with two restaurants with beautiful settings, and popular lobby and rooftop bars. We ate at Piadina, which was a great choice

Our favorite beach is for surfing and running, or a peaceful walk to Morro Rock and back. There are lots of beautiful birds and tide pools at the north end of the beach. For those with dogs, it is necessary to walk through the tide pool area to the dog beach - a long stretch of quicksand and waves continue.
