Cape Earth is a cliff on the edge of the Pacific Ocean with a lighthouse and a globe sculpture. Looking at the endless Pacific Ocean from here, the skyline at sea level is curved, and you can really feel that "the earth is round". Cape Earth was selected as the first place in the "Hokkaido 100 Natural Selections". Facing the Pacific coastline, the endless blue, cloudless, white lighthouses and characteristic buildings, ushering in the gusts of sea breeze, will make people very relaxed and comfortable. Every year on New Year's Day, many Japanese people come here to wait for the sunrise of the new year, which they believe will bring them good luck. When you come here, don't forget to go to the tourist information hut to get a "visit here" certificate.Muroran · 2.6 km from downtown

Noboribetsuonsencho is famous for its abundant hot spring resources and diverse water qualities. Hot spring inns, hotels, restaurants, and souvenir shops are distributed along the streets, surrounded by mountains and forests, with a distinct geothermal landscape. The hot spring water mainly comes from the Noboribetsu Jigokudani Valley area, with a daily output of approx. 10,000 tons. The water types are rich and varied, including milky white sulfur springs with a sulfurous scent, as well as salt springs, iron springs, and sodium bicarbonate springs, earning it the title of department store of hot springs. The hot spring street features an ogre theme, with statues of red and blue ogres scattered along the street, adding fun to your stroll. Inside the Enma-do Hall, there is a statue of King Enma that periodically performs a show where its facial expression changes, presenting the legendary scene of the judgment of hell. The Jigoku Matsuri held in summer is also quite unique, with King Enma and various ogres parading through the streets, filling the hot spring street with a lively festive atmosphere. In addition to soaking in the hot springs, you can also walk through the forest along the Oyunuma River Natural Footpath to enjoy the stream and surrounding vegetation, and soak your feet in the natural foot bath, feeling the warm spring water slowly flow by. When it snows in winter, the steam rising from the open-air hot springs contrasts with the white snowy scenery, adding a unique mountain charm to this place.Noboribetsu · 24.1 km from Muroran

Noboribetsu Jigokudani Valley is a volcanic explosion crater formed by volcanic activity and serves as a major source of Noboribetsu Onsen. The valley measures approximately 450 meters in diameter, with exposed gray-white and reddish-brown rocks, numerous hot spring vents, and fumaroles. Hot water continuously rises from the ground, releasing clouds of white steam and filling the air with a distinct sulfurous smell, creating a striking volcanic landscape. The valley produces a large volume of hot spring water daily, supplying nearby hot spring facilities. Walking along the wooden boardwalks offers close views of the rock walls, steam vents, and bubbling hot springs, revealing the geothermal activity beneath the surface. Tessen-ike, located in the valley, is a geyser where the water periodically boils and releases rising steam, highlighting the area's active geothermal features. An observation deck near the entrance provides panoramic views of the valley, where exposed rock formations contrast with drifting steam. In autumn, colorful foliage across the surrounding hills contrasts with the rugged terrain. In winter, snow covers the landscape, while rising steam stands out against the cold air, creating a distinctive seasonal scene.Noboribetsu · 24.8 km from Muroran

The Shiratori Bridge is located at the entrance of Muroran Port, connecting the new development zone and Muroran City, Hokkaido. It was opened to traffic in 1988 and is the largest suspension bridge in East Japan. This bridge is a 3-span double-hinge highway suspension bridge with a main span of 720m and two-way 4-lane. It is also a suspension bridge in Japan that adopts a streamlined steel box girder structure. The soft skeleton of the suspension bridge is as impressive as a white bird spreading its wings. The decorative lanterns emit a swan-white light at night, making the bridge skeleton very beautiful.Muroran · 4.7 km from downtown

Oyunuma is the remains of a volcanic crater formed by the eruption of Mount Hiwa. The bottom of the pond spews a sulphurous spring of about 130 degrees, which is the source of hot spring water for major hot spring hotels in Noboribetsu. There is an observation deck here, you can see the steaming lake in front of you, you can also walk to the lake to feel it up close. Walking around the lake and marsh, in addition to smelling the smell of sulfur, you can also see the source of hot springs that are smoking and foaming at any time, especially the yellow spherical sulfur floating on the lake is particularly conspicuous. There is also a natural foot bath next to Oyunuma. You can soak your feet for free and relax, but in winter, it is usually covered with snow and ice, and the road is not easy to walk.Noboribetsu · 25.2 km from Muroran

Youzhu Volcano is a famous and frequently active volcano in the world. It erupted 4 times in the 100 years of the 20th century. What is even more amazing is that after each eruption, a new volcano will grow around it: Meiji New Mountain in 1910, 1943 Showa Shinzan in 1977, Usu Shinzan in 1977, and Xishan Crater in 2000, which recently erupted. At present, there is a cable car on the mountain, and there are many tourist trails around the volcano, where you can see the shocking scene of the Usu volcano group. When you reach the mountainside of Usu Volcano, you will see two observatories on the left and right. When you walk to the Toyako observatory on the right, Showa Shinzan once again appears in front of you. Standing here, you can enjoy the scenery of Toya Lake and the surrounding area. If you walk up the mountain on the walking path in the opposite direction, you will arrive at the former observation deck of Mount Yousu Crater, where you can see the view of the Great Crater of Ginuma and Spitfire Bay.Sobetsu · 27.5 km from Muroran

Be sure to check the weather before you go. We were lucky. The sun was shining brightly that day. We walked up the mountain directly from the bottom. The scenery along the way was also beautiful. There were almost no people. After reaching Jinpingfeng, we were not far from Cape Earth. The scenery of Cape Earth is really amazing. The field of vision can be infinitely extended. It feels that the horizon in front of you is the edge of the earth. The white lighthouse stands by the sea, lonely and small. At this time, you can put all distractions behind your mind and completely empty your mind.

Located in Noboribetsu, the beautiful and spectacular Noboribetsu Hell Valley is a scenic area. Formed by volcanoes, this valley is blessed with hot springs reaching temperatures of 80 degrees Celsius. The scent of sulfur can be smelled from time to time, and even the hot springs have a yellowish color. The magnificent Oyunuma Pond is truly breathtaking, making it a must-see. Noboribetsu Hell Valley truly lives up to its reputation!

A Record of My Romantic Winter Trip in January 2020~ The first day I arrived at Lake Toya was a very overcast day; the entire lake was shrouded in a gray haze, and Mount Yotei was completely invisible, but I still happily took photos for a long time, haha. The second day, the sky cleared, and the scenery of Lake Toya instantly improved several levels. The clear sky, dotted with a few small white clouds, made the lake surface appear a beautiful blue, and many, many ducklings were playing and frolicking on the lake. The distant mountain ranges and the snow-capped Mount Yotei were clearly visible—such a beautiful scene, peaceful and serene. Just sitting by the lake, gazing into the distance, and all my worries would disappear.

A bridge to the Earth Cape. In fact, there are many bridges like this in China, but this bridge is definitely very beautiful. The bridge is all white, and it looks very beautiful with the blue sky, white clouds and blue sea.

The Shukutsu Observatory in Otaru faces the sea, and white sailboats dot the blue sea. It is so beautiful! Actually, we were just casually walking around the streets of Otaru and eating. We accidentally saw a large poster covering the entire wall with beautiful scenery, so we found the Shukutsu Observatory according to the map. The only difference is that the lighthouse seems to be under maintenance, and it may need to be repainted. It is not the red and white color we saw on the way.

Never thought we would enjoy a chocolate factory so much even though we didn’t try any chocolate during the visit! It was very sighftul and yet full of surprises we walked till they close! Don’t forget to get the parking coupon vouchers from them to get discount off the carpark. We bought our tickets from trip.com and could use them instantly, offsetting coins! Best deal ever! The 6-years old daughter even tried a simple 10mins snack making course for 900yen!

Walking along the mountain from Jigokudani, we arrived at another scenic spot formed by volcanoes - Oyunuma. A hot spring stream overflowing from Oyunuma is available for tourists to soak their feet. The black volcanic mud inside is very comfortable to soak in.

I have to give this ski resort a 7-star rating [Clap][Clap][Clap] I did a lot of research before coming to Noboribetsu Onsen. I thought that as a novice, I would find a small ski resort to practice first. We started from Noboribetsu Daiichi Takimoto Onsen Hotel, and it takes 5 minutes to walk to Noboribetsu Onsen Bus Stop. You can buy tickets on the spot. It costs 480 yen per person to go to the ski resort (it is recommended to buy the ticket in advance to save the change when getting off the bus). Japanese buses are very punctual. The last stop is the ski resort at 9:25. It takes 3 minutes to walk after getting off the bus. Let's talk about the process of the ski resort in detail. The ski ticket is free. If you come for the first time, it is recommended to rent all the equipment inside, including snow suits, hats, gloves, socks and snow goggles. Because the ski resort has limited staff, it is recommended to register your name before entering the door. You will confirm all the contents you need to rent, pay, and get the equipment. It has taken almost 30 minutes to get here, so remember to register your name when you enter the door. After getting the equipment, you can go out to learn by yourself. There are also coaches to ask. Because I have skied several times in China and there are language communication problems, I finally decided to explore it myself. After playing for a morning and feeling that I can go to the intermediate slope, I can go to buy a cable car ticket. We bought 11 times for 3,000 yen per person, but I only used it 5 times in fact. The physical strength consumed by skiing once is still very large. The lunch at the ski resort tastes good, but the machine is operated in Japanese, which is a headache. I found a compatriot to unlock the order. Finally, I want to give a big praise to the staff here. My husband accidentally dropped his mobile phone when he was changing clothes, and I lost my gloves on the cable car. In the end, the staff helped to find them. The ski resort ended at 4 o'clock. I saw netizens saying that the ski resort can help take a taxi, but it is actually difficult. An uncle took us to the hotel for free. Thank you very much. The favorability of this place has increased a lot instantly.

[Scenery] Mount Usu is bare and nothing to see; the red smoking Showa Shinzan next to it was newly formed by the eruption in 19th year of the Showa era, which is not bad. [Fun] 🚡 Go up to the observation deck, where you can see a mountain like 🗻 in the distance; there is a road next to it that leads to another observation deck to see Mount Usu, but the road is a bit far, and the key is that Mount Usu is not very beautiful. [Value for money] 🚡 Round trip 2000 yen for adults, 1000 yen for children
