Krakow's Rynek Glowny Central Square

5.7
4.5/5
79 reviews
The central square in Krakow can be called the largest medieval square in Europe. It is also a very exciting place in Krakow. It is warm and vibrant. Many people come to Krakow to experience the authentic local customs of Poland. The brick red Church of the Virgin Mary on the square is the symbol of Krakow, and when the sun shines, it emits a charming warm red. The textile hall with a white Renaissance building in the middle has now been converted into a shopping mall and a museum. The dazzling amber accessories, dishes, Polish dolls, gloves and sweaters in the shopping mall are the reasons why tourists love to stop. As the hour approaches, people walking and drinking coffee in the square will stop and pay their respects to the church - when the hour arrives, the small window at the top of the church bell tower will open and a golden trumpet sticks out , playing a piece of tune loudly, and after the end, the player will wave to the people below, so there will be whistles and applause from people in the square. The tradition of playing the trumpet is to commemorate the invasion of nomads from the Mongolian plateau in the 8th century, when an enemy soldier shot an arrow through the throat of the player at that time, and the sound stopped abruptly. To commemorate this soldier, until now, the horn sounded on the hour was abruptly terminated at that moment.Poland · Krakow

4.1/5
39 reviews
The Mermaid's Statue is an important city symbol of Warsaw, the capital of Poland, commonly depicted as a mermaid with the upper body of a woman and the tail of a fish, holding a sword in her right hand and a shield in her left, representing the strength and courage to protect the city. The image of the mermaid appeared in Warsaw's city seals as early as the late 14th–early 15th century, though the early image was different from today's, having evolved over several centuries to gradually become the combination of a woman and a fish tail. Today, this motif appears widely in Warsaw's city emblem, public buildings, and urban decorations, and is a common symbol tourists encounter when learning about Warsaw's history and urban culture.Poland · Warsaw
Oliwski Park

Oliwski Park

4.5
Oliwoski Park is a historic and picturesque park located in the Oliwa district of Gdansk, Poland. The park is charming with dense woods, colorful gardens and tranquil lakes, like an oasis in the city. Among them, the Baroque-style French garden is a highlight of the park, with carefully arranged flower beds, geometrically trimmed shrubs and two neat rows of lime trees, forming a "prince's landscape" and creating a dreamy visual effect. Extending eastward along the lime tree avenue, at the end is a pond surrounded by trees. From a certain angle, it seems to be connected to the Gdansk Bay several kilometers away. This road is also called "the road to eternity" by the monks. In addition to beautiful natural scenery, the park also has many cultural landscapes and entertainment facilities. There is the historic Oliwa Cathedral, whose interior is gorgeously decorated and often hosts cultural events such as the International Organ Music Festival.Poland · Gdansk

Szklarki Waterfall

Szklarki Waterfall

4.3
Hidden within a canyon embraced by mountains, Szklarki Waterfall is a destination brimming with natural charm. The stream cascades through deep forests, its sound echoing against the rock walls, while the surrounding mountains, trees, and rocks weave together a serene yet powerful landscape. Entering the scenic area, a well-paved trail winds through the dense forest, guiding visitors to the waterfall's viewing platform. From the platform, you can experience the spectacular sight of the water cascading and splashing down up close. The rock walls are mottled with moss, the pool is clear and green, and occasional rising mist adds a hazy, poetic touch to the environment. Mountain huts are dotted throughout, with their wooden structures and stone walls blending seamlessly into the natural landscape, making you feel as if you have stepped into a secret mountain realm. This waterfall is perfect for travelers who enjoy hiking and nature photography. You can stroll through the shaded woods, pause to listen to the sound of the water, or stand on the viewing platform to enjoy the natural symphony performed by the forest and the waterfall.Poland · Piechowice

4.3
3.8/5
16 reviews
St. Mary's Church is the largest brick church in the world and is a Gothic structure. The church is 105.5m long and 66m wide. Unlike churches in Italy, it is not overly luxurious or flashy; it features deep red exterior walls, a towering spire, and heavy, ajar doors, giving it a simple yet substantial feel. The pipe organ inside is also very classical—magnificent yet refined. Climb the tower for a panoramic view of Gdansk, and you can even see the Baltic Sea in the distance.Poland · Gdansk

Warsaw’s Old Town is a stunning testament to the resilience and rich history of the Polish people. Originally established in the 13th century, this UNESCO World Heritage Site was almost entirely destroyed during World War II but has been meticulously reconstructed. Walking through the cobbled streets, visitors can feel the blend of medieval charm and historical significance in every corner, from the colorful facades of historic tenement houses to the grandeur of the Royal Castle, which offers a fascinating glimpse into Polish royalty and national history.Market Square is the heart of Old Town, where vibrant cafes, restaurants, and shops offer everything from traditional Polish cuisine to charming souvenirs. Statues and monuments, such as the iconic Mermaid of Warsaw, add to the area’s character and reflect the deep cultural symbolism of the city. Nearby, St. John’s Archcathedral and other churches showcase exquisite architecture and house important religious relics.Whether you're a history enthusiast, a culture seeker, or simply looking for a beautiful place to explore, Warsaw’s Old Town offers an unforgettable experience that celebrates Poland's endurance, beauty, and cultural heritage. It's a place where past and present beautifully coexist, making it a must-visit for anyone coming to Warsaw.

This is the best safe haven in the bustling city. The most important thing is that there are white peacocks walking here and mandarin ducks in pairs...a wonderful harmony between the city and nature.

This is Europe's largest medieval square, covering 4 hectares. It is surrounded by colorful buildings, cafes, and street performers. The Sukiennice, the cloth hall in the center of the square, was built in the 13th century and was originally a textile market and one of Europe's important trading centers. Today, it is a shopping paradise for handicrafts and amber jewelry.

It is the most worthy tallest building in Warsaw, with a total height of 234 meters. It was built by the former Soviet Union and presented to Warsaw. It has a strong former Soviet architectural style and is a landmark building in Warsaw. It is called "Stalin's syringe" or "Russian wedding cake". However, such a beautiful building is completely inconsistent with the style of the surrounding new town and the old town in the distance. The complicated historical process has made the Poles have a complex feeling of love and hate for this building. It is said that there is a lot of space inside and various exhibitions are often held. This reminds me of the "Sino-Soviet Friendship Building" in Shanghai. Haha, it is indeed a building of the same style.

On the west bank of the Vistula River in Warsaw stands a bronze sculpture with a human body and a fish tail. This is the symbol of the heroic city of Warsaw - the Warsaw Mermaid. In Poland, the Vistula River, which flows into the Peronian Sea, is said to have a mermaid. At that time, a young man named Wald and a young woman named Shava traveled by boat down the river to the current Polish capital Warsaw to open up their homeland. The mermaid in the river was their witness and protector. This place gradually developed into a city. In order to commemorate them, later generations combined their names and called it "Warsaw" as the name of the city. At the same time, the image of the mermaid was used as the emblem of Warsaw.
