Chongqing Zoo is situated in Yangjiaping in the city's Jiulongpo District. The zoo is home to one of China's national treasures, the panda, of which there are more than in the average zoo. The National Huanan Tiger Breeding Center is also based at the zoo. There is nothing better than visiting the zoo at the weekend with kids to look at the variety of animals. Chongqing Zoo is home to quite a complete range of animals, including giant pandas, giraffes, lions, zebra, elephants, tigers, crocodiles, and apes. If you follow the instructions when you stroll around the zoo, you can see all the animals without walking down the same path twice.China · Chongqing

WenShuFang

WenShuFang is an antique-style cultural block in Qingyang District, Chengdu, adjacent to Wenshu Monastery. Opened in 2006, the Wenshu Monastery area, where it is located, is one of Chengdu's three major historical and cultural conservation zones, alongside Kuanzhai Alley and Daci Temple. The block primarily features architecture in the traditional Sichuanese residential style, with teahouses, snack shops, intangible cultural heritage workshops, and Hanfu stores nestled among gray-tiled roofs, wooden doors, and courtyards. It is also a popular spot for locals to drink tea and chat. The main streets in the district each have their own distinctive features: Wuyuegong Street is dedicated to intangible cultural heritage, with workshops showcasing traditional crafts like Shu brocade, Shu embroidery, lacquerware, bamboo weaving, and silver filigree, where artisans can often be seen working on-site; Nanyue Lane is a hub for Hanfu culture, with a constant stream of people dressed in Hanfu taking photos against the backdrop of ancient-style gate towers and red walls, and the street also offers Hanfu rental and makeup services; Jinma Lane is the heart of old Chengdu flavors, where time-honored snacks like imperial walnut cakes and Zhang Liangfen from Dongzikou can be enjoyed from one end of the street to the other. When you need a break, you can stop at a teahouse for a bowl of covered-bowl tea. The district also hosts Sichuan opera performances, where you can enjoy face-changing, fire-spitting, and long-spout tea art while sipping tea, fully immersing yourself in Chengdu's unique blend of leisure and liveliness. When touring, you might as well combine this place with the nearby Wenshu Monastery into one route, visiting the ancient temple first and then exploring the alleys, which can be completed in half a day. Travelers planning to take Hanfu photos are advised to allocate more time for makeup, styling, and framing.China · Chengdu

Shuangqiaogou got its name from the two wooden bridges in the valley. The ditch is mainly dominated by snow peaks, pastures, grasslands, forests, etc. It is a beautiful ditch in Siguniang Mountain. Walking in the ditch, you can experience the real pastoral scenery. The main scenic spots are Yinyang Valley, Hunter Peak, Sun and Moon Mirror and Five Colors Mountain, etc. For the convenience of traffic, the local people built two wooden bridges in the ditch, one of which was made of willow wood, commonly known as the willow bridge; the other was made of red cedar wood, commonly known as the convenience bridge. Shuangqiaogou got its name from this. The mountains in Shuangqiaogou are steep and tortuous, with lush forests. There are not only the common birch forests and cypress forests in the low mountain areas, but also the spruce, fir, and redwood in the high mountain areas, and even the sea buckthorn, shrubs, and larch. Every spring and autumn, the ditch is colorful and spectacular. There are sightseeing cars in the ditch that go directly to the end of the ditch, so you can enjoy the wonders in the ditch effortlessly.China · Xiaojin
Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street

Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street

7.9
4.7/5
5.6k reviews
Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street is the long-established core commercial district in Chongqing, located on the Yuzhong Peninsula. Centered around the Monument to the People's Liberation at its heart, it extends along several streets including Minquan Road, Minzu Road, Zourong Road, and Bayi Road. The monument is an octagonal tower-shaped structure, originally built to commemorate the victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and later renamed the Monument to the People's Liberation. Its four-sided clock at the top makes it a highly recognizable landmark in Chongqing, and most travelers visiting here take photos in front of it. Shopping and food are the two main themes of the pedestrian street: the area around the monument is densely packed with shopping malls and traditional department stores. When tired from shopping, visitors can turn into Bayi Road Snack Street, where sour and spicy noodles, small glutinous rice balls, and wontons line the street, allowing them to sample all of Chongqing's snacks while strolling. Hidden around the commercial district are Luohan Temple and Nengren Temple on Zhonghua Road, two ancient temples nestled among skyscrapers, offering a peaceful retreat amidst the bustling city. At night, the pedestrian street takes on a different vibe: building screens and neon lights illuminate the area, and the square in front of the monument becomes a popular spot for night photography. Every New Year's Eve, many locals gather under the monument to listen to the New Year's bell and count down together—a tradition that has continued for years. The crowd is enormous that night, so those wishing to experience the atmosphere should plan ahead. A short 15-minute walk from the monument leads to Hongya Cave, making it ideal to combine both locations into a nightlife route.China · Chongqing

Came for the pandas! We arrived right at opening time to see the pandas get fed breakfast. Their enclosure is right by the main entrance so no need to wander around, just be mindful of the Zoo Photographers and their equipment.

Wenshufang — a colorful historic quarter right next to Wenshu Monastery. Narrow traditional-style lanes, souvenir shops, teahouses, and plenty of street food. Noisy, crowded, and full of atmosphere — a striking contrast to the silence behind the monastery walls. A great spot to stroll, grab a bite, and pick up souvenirs.

Shuangqiaogou is a great place to bring elderly people and children. The facilities are comprehensive, and the activity level is not too strenuous. The sightseeing buses are well-designed and run frequently, so you won't have to wait too long. The scenery inside the scenic area is breathtaking in late autumn on a sunny day. I recommend going in the morning when the wind is calmer and you can capture the reflection of the snow-capped mountains. Also, be aware of the large temperature difference on the mountain; dress warmly in layers. There's even a KFC and Pizza Hut near the entrance for lunch.

My stay in Chongqing was fantastic! The hotel boasts a superb location, within walking distance of Eling No. 2 Factory and Liziba Viewpoint, making sightseeing incredibly convenient. The rooms were spotless and bright, the bedding was soft and comfortable, and the amenities were complete. The free parking was a great convenience for travelers with cars. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, making check-in quick and easy, and patiently answering all my questions. Overall, it offered excellent value for money and is a top choice for any trip. I would definitely choose this hotel again next time.

Conveniently the location was about three floors above my hotel, however the view was really spectacular. Whole experience blew my mind- you could see entire city and take great looking photos on the famous red stairs. I even considered going following day for different weather experience. Each person paid an extra 80 yuan to access the VIP area, where we sat at the bow of the boat. There were snacks, fruit, and drinks, along with a commentary and a face-changing performance. The night view from the boat was indeed excellent, especially in the VIP area where there was no need to squeeze with the crowds; everyone was right next to the side of the boat, allowing for photos anytime. The entire trip lasted 40 minutes. However, the journey to Hongyadong Wharf was incredibly congested, chaotic, and packed with people...

Walking through the small corner houses and Soviet-style buildings in Bajiaogou, you will feel the sense of time and space confusion like the sound of a whistle... The end of the train is Bajiaogou, a once glorious town that now has old buildings and historical memories. We visited the museum, found a small restaurant to eat, and experienced the life of the town...
