Things to do in Tongren

I chose a period of consecutive sunny days to visit Fanjingshan. I entered the scenic area at 7:10 AM, took a sightseeing bus and cable car up the mountain, and then walked for 40 minutes along the wooden boardwalk to Mushroom Rock. The round trip to the Old Golden Summit took 1.5 hours. After returning to Mushroom Rock, I walked down to Pudu Square. There, I could go directly to the Red Cloud Golden Summit without needing to call a number, but the traffic was very slow, and I had to stop frequently – essentially for a rest. The weather was clear, the view was far, and the scenery was beautiful, but I couldn't see the sea of ​​clouds. I got off the sightseeing bus at 1:10 PM. The round trip took exactly 6 hours.

I think it's worth going. Although there are many stairs, you can mostly walk on flat ground, and it's quite close to nature. I recommend taking a boat out of the Natural Bridge scenic area to avoid backtracking and reduce fatigue. I suggest heading downhill. In summer, you can also go rafting, which is great. A complete loop without backtracking takes about 2 hours. It's a one-way trip, and there are very few shops along the way, so I recommend bringing your own snacks.

Walking along the ravine in the scenic area, you can see incredibly clear emerald water. The valley is bursting with negative oxygen ions, and the temperature is very comfortable. In summer, it's advisable to bring a pair of shoes suitable for stream tracing; soaking your feet in the water would be a wonderful experience. Climbing up from the bottom of the ravine to see the sacred tree of Yamu involves over 700 steps, which is quite challenging, so be sure to conserve your energy. You can visit the Ming Dynasty Ancient Courtyard, and then take a bus back. The entire trip takes about 2 hours.

Arriving at the ancient town just in time for a summer shower, the scenery was extraordinary. While sheltering in the parking lot shed, a cloud of mist drifted in, bringing a sudden downpour. The surrounding scenery appeared and disappeared intermittently, and the vermilion statue in the scenic area glowed with a mysterious yellow light within the mist.

Jiulong Cave Scenic Area is located east of Tongren City. It is a karst cave wonder with stalactites of various shapes and sizes, towering pillars that are magnificent, and light and shadow intertwined to create a dreamlike and breathtaking spectacle.

A very beautiful place. However, I had an experience that I have to share. I fell down in there. In fact, exactly near the small river (my 1st picture). I was taking photos for my wife, and suddenly I was in the water. I sprained myself. The fruitseller was very helpful to help me back up and found my phone in the water. After I was up, my wife also almost slipped, and another person afterwards also almost slipped. The floor is just too much moist and slippery. I hope the management look into that area. So please be very careful. The place itself is amazing. I walked for almost an hour, and I love it. The simple life of the people, the surrounding mountains, the old buildings and the farms. All look peaceful and relaxing to walk around..I recommend a visit but just be careful when walking.
