Costa del Sol

5.0/5
20 reviews
Costa del Sol is a stretch of resort coastline along the Mediterranean in Malaga Province, extending from Nerja in the east to the Manilva area in the west, spanning over 100 km. The coast gets its name from its climate, which is sunny most days of the year. Vacations here can be very slow-paced: take a walk along the seaside promenade or go for a swim during the day, and at noon, head into a beachside eatery to order a skewer of charcoal-grilled sardines—locals thread the sardines onto thin skewers and grill them over a wood fire. Many eateries even use old fishing boats filled with sand as grills right on the beach. Paired with an iced drink, this is a quintessential dining experience on this coast. In the evening, you can explore the old town of Marbella and wander through the white-walled alleys around the Plaza de los Naranjos. Golf is another highlight here, with a high density of courses along the coast.Mijas · 15.5 km from Torremolinos

Malaga Beach has a long coastline of 14 kilometers. This sea area has plenty of sunshine and soft sand, so it is popular with tourists from all over the world. Mahaiga Beach is warm all year round and can go to the sea 10 months of the year. In February, it is still the warmer place in southeastern Spain, so it is also a famous cold shelter in Europe. The beach here is open on weekends from 10am to 8pm. At night, someone will clean the beach, so there is no doubt about the cleanliness of the beach, and you can enjoy it with confidence. Just a reminder that there are no changing rooms on the beach, just showers without any cover.Malaga · 13.8 km from Torremolinos

There are nearly 10,000 seats here, which shows that it was grand and luxurious. Although it is now a broken wall, but standing here, you can still feel the magnificent momentum. España Square

España Square in Seville is located in the tranquil and refreshing Parque de Maria Luisa in the southern part of the city. Its crescent-shaped classical architecture stands elegantly amidst lush greenery, making it a popular leisure spot among Seville's residents. It was built as the core architectural complex for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition, designed by Seville architect Aníbal González. Parque de Maria Luisa welcomed this newly constructed España Square, a crescent-shaped complex consisting of mansions, arch bridges, fountains, and pools. The signature feature of the square is the grid of colorful ceramic niches on the lower level of the arcade: over forty niches each represent a Spanish province, displaying painted tiles depicting the province's map, historical scenes, and portraits of famous figures. Many travelers make a point to find their favorite niche for a seated photo, while the arcade columns are adorned with round plaques of notable figures and coats of arms. Visitors can relax and take photos here or rent a small wooden boat to paddle on the lake, with particularly beautiful scenery at sunset. If you take a sightseeing carriage in the city, España Square is a must-visit spot. Amid the galloping wheels, you can fully enjoy the captivating scenes of the square, whether in motion or at rest.Spain · Seville

El Tajo de Ronda is a natural wonder in the Andalusia region. The gorge was carved over the ages by the Guadalevín and is over 100m deep, dividing Ronda into two halves: the old town, which retains its Moorish charm, on one side and the newer city on the other. A well-known sight here is the Puente Nuevo. Centro de Interpretación, an 18th-century stone bridge that spans the gorge with its deck nearly 100m above the valley floor. The combination of the stone bridge and the deep gorge creates the classic image of this cliffside city. Visitors can look down into the gorge from the bridge to enjoy magnificent natural views and panoramic cityscapes. The viewing platforms below the bridge offer great photo opportunities, especially at sunset, when the interplay of light and shadow makes for enchanting scenery. Strolling along the trails on the edge of the gorge allows you to more deeply experience the power of nature and the weight of history.Ronda · 60.9 km from Torremolinos

Parque de Maria Luisa is a major public green space in Seville, extending along theRio Guadalquivirand covering an area of approx. 400,000 square meters. The park was formerly the garden of the Palacio de San Telmo and was donated to the city of Seville by Infanta Maria Luisa Fernanda in 1893. Starting in 1911, French landscape designer Jean-Claude Nicolas Forestier redesigned the garden, using Moorish-style landscaping as a foundation, adding fountains, ponds, glazed tile benches, and pavilions, and planting numerous palm trees, orange trees, and Mediterranean pines to create the overall setting for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition. The semi-circular España Square on the east side of the park is the centerpiece of the exposition, designed by architect Aníbal González, and blends Renaissance, Baroque, and Neo-Mudéjar styles. The square is surrounded by a canal where visitors can rent boats to row on the water. Along the canal, the buildings feature benches made of glazed ceramic tiles, with each set representing a historical scene from a province in Spain. The three pavilions at the southern end of the park were also built for the exposition, each adopting one of three architectural styles: Gothic, Mudéjar, or Renaissance. Today, two of them have become museums: theArchaeological Museumdisplays prehistoric and Roman-era artifacts, including mosaics and sculptures unearthed from the nearby ancient ruins of Italica; while the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions exhibits local ceramics, traditional costumes, and handicraft tools. The park is also dotted with landmarks such as the Bécquer Monument, the Lion Fountain, and the Water Lily Pond.Spain · Seville

Torre del Oro

Torre del Oro is a dodecagonal military watchtower on the east bank of the Rio Guadalquivir. Built by the Moorish Almohad dynasty, it was once connected to the royal palace by a section of the city wall, guarding the strategic waterway for ships traveling upriver into Seville. The origin of the tower's name is debated: some say it was once covered in shimmering tiles, others claim it was named for the golden reflection of its mortar-and-straw coating in the sunlight, and legend also has it that King Peter I stored gold and silver treasures inside. While the golden finish is hard to find today, the tower often glows with a warm golden hue in the sunset, making it particularly photogenic. The tower is divided into three sections: the base was built in the early 13th century, the second level was an expansion in the 14th century, and the circular dome at the top was added after the 1755 Lisbon earthquake and is still covered with golden tiles. Historically, it has been used as a prison and a chapel, and in the 19th century, it served as offices for shipping companies and port authorities. Since 1944, the tower has housed a maritime museum, displaying ancient nautical charts, ship models, and historical navigational instruments, as well as documents recording voyages such as those of Magellan and Elcano, telling the story of Seville's connection to this great river and the sea. There is a cruise pier on the riverbank below the tower, where you can get a different perspective of this old tower from the water.Spain · Seville

San Nicolas Viewpoint is an ideal spot to enjoy panoramic views of the Alhambra. This viewpoint is famous for its magnificent sunset views and attracts many tourists and photography enthusiasts. The Albaicin district where the viewpoint is located is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with narrow streets and traditional Andalusian architecture, which makes for a unique experience. San Nicolas Viewpoint can be reached on foot from the city center or by local bus, and you can enjoy the unique style of Granada during the walk. There are many cafes and restaurants near the viewpoint, where tourists can enjoy local food and experience authentic Spanish culture. Tourists are advised to arrive in the evening to occupy a good position to watch the sunset. Due to the popularity of the viewpoint, it is recommended to plan your trip in advance, especially during the peak tourist season. The viewpoint has a large open space, but you still need to pay attention to the safety of your personal belongings.Spain · Granada

The Costa del Sol, located on the Mediterranean coast of Andalusia in southern Spain, is renowned for its abundant sunshine, long beaches, and vibrant resort atmosphere, making it one of Europe's most popular seaside resorts. With a coastline of approximately 150 kilometers, it enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate with over 300 sunny days a year. Its most unique feature is not only its beautiful and spectacular beaches but also its rolling hills. Visitors can lazily sunbathe, read, or surf on the beach, or simply walk across the main street and hike through the mountains filled with pine trees, broom, and rosemary. Furthermore, it boasts numerous historical sites and scenic spots!

There were very few tourists, almost just a few of us, and it was an ancient open-air theater with a long history. When you are at the edge of the steps, you can feel how spectacular it is. It is hard to imagine what it was like when there were so many people here.

My recent visit to Plaza España in Sevilla was an unforgettable experience, highlighting the architectural magnificence and cultural richness of this iconic Spanish landmark. Designed by Aníbal González for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929, the plaza is a stunning example of Renaissance Revival architecture, with a unique blend of Moorish elements that pay homage to Spain's rich history. As I walked along the semi-circular brick building, I was captivated by the intricate ceramic tiles, known as azulejos, depicting the history and culture of each Spanish province. The craftsmanship and attention to detail in these artworks were astounding, offering a colorful mosaic of Spain's diverse regions. The bridges crossing the small canal, which reflects the beautiful façade, added to the romantic atmosphere of the plaza. The expansive central square, with its large fountain, was a vibrant gathering place for locals and tourists alike, echoing with the sounds of flamenco music and the sight of traditional dance performances. The grandeur of the Plaza España, set against the backdrop of Seville's clear blue skies, provided a picturesque setting that was both awe-inspiring and inviting.Exploring the Plaza España was not only a visual feast but also a deep dive into the cultural heart of Seville. It stood as a testament to the city's historical significance and its ongoing celebration of Andalusian culture and traditions. This visit left me with a profound appreciation for Spain's architectural beauty and its rich tapestry of history and art. visit it!

A group tour to Spain. Exterior view of the Torre del Oro in Seville. The Torre del Oro is a dodecagonal military watchtower built in the 13th century by the Almohad dynasty. It was primarily constructed to control ships traveling from the Guadalquivir River to Seville and to provide security for the precious metals regularly brought back from the Americas by the Spanish treasure fleet. A large iron chain stretched underwater from the tower, which could block the river and prevent ships from entering. Today, the restored tower serves as a naval museum, containing prints, letters, models, and historical archives. The museum also explains the naval history of Seville and the importance of the Guadalquivir River.

San Nicolas Square (Plaza de San Nicolas) is a lively place any time of day, with craftsmen, flamenco dancers, and street musicians setting up along the paving stones to entertain visitors. At dusk, crowds of locals and tourists turn out to watch the sunset over the palace grounds before adjourning to restaurants and tea shops on nearby Elvira Street.
