Lake Geneva is located on the border between Switzerland and France, nestled between the Alps in a crescent shape, with approx. 60% of its waters within Switzerland. The lake water is clear and blue, with distant snow-capped mountains reflected in it, forming a typical view of theAlpine region. Numerous views and landmarks are distributed along the lakeshore. Chillon Castle, built on a rock in the lake, has stood for nearly a thousand years and is one of Switzerland's famous medieval buildings, and Byron once wrote a famous long poem about it. The towns along the shore each have their own charm. Geneva blends modern urban vibes with historical heritage, and Montreux is known for its pleasant lakeside climate. Taking a boat cruise on the lake is a classic way to enjoy the panoramic view of Lake Geneva and the scenery on both shores. In summer, you can enjoy water activities such as sailing and kayaking on the lake, while in winter, you can head to the nearbyAlpine regionto ski.Switzerland · Saint-Prex

Geneva Jet d'eau

The Geneva Jet d'eau stands on Lake Geneva, right next to the Jardin Anglais, and is one of Geneva's iconic landmarks. In the 1880s, Geneva's workshops relied on hydraulic power to drive their machinery. When they stopped working at night, the pressure in the pipe network needed to be released, and this water jet was originally designed as a pressure relief valve for this purpose. Because it was so popular with passersby, it was later moved to its current lakeside location and became a formal landmark. Its water jet can reach over 100m, resembling the spout of a giant whale. Hundreds of liters of lake water are propelled into the air at high speed, scattering into a sky full of white mist. Walking along the lakeside promenade, you can feel the cool mist on your face as it drifts with the wind. At night, if you catch it when it is illuminated, it is even more impressive.Switzerland · Geneva

Old Town of Geneva is nestled on the hillside on the south bank of the Rhône River. Its cobblestone streets form the framework, with churches, historic houses, and ancient fountains scattered throughout. The pace is much slower than elsewhere in the city, making it a perfect spot for a stroll to soak in the old-world atmosphere of Geneva. At its highest point stands the Cathedrale Saint-Pierre Geneve, founded in the 12th century and an important witness to the Reformation in Geneva. Climb the narrow stairs inside the tower to the belfry for panoramic views of the layered rooftops and the distant lake and mountains. The former residence and place of birth of the philosopher Rousseau is located along the main thoroughfare. Place du Bourg-de-Four, once a medieval market, is now surrounded by open-air cafes and small restaurants; it is a delightful spot to enjoy a coffee or sample local flavors after a walk. The winding alleys are home to galleries, antique shops, and bistros, where you might discover anything from old European paintings to vintage items from around the world—browsing for souvenirs while exploring is a delight. For history enthusiasts, the Maison Tavel is a must-visit; this ancient residence documents centuries of local life. Secret medieval passages still remain underground, adding a touch of intrigue to your stroll.Switzerland · Geneva

Standing about eight meters tall, the giant stainless steel fork stands in the lake, creating a striking landscape along the lakefront. The Fork was initially installed temporarily to celebrate the museum's 10th anniversary, but due to its popularity, it has since become a permanent exhibit. Visitors can stroll along the lake and admire the integration of this artwork with the lake and the mountains. The Fork is not only a popular spot for taking photos, but also provides visitors with an opportunity to think about the relationship between food and culture. The nearby Lavaux Food Museum offers more exhibitions on the history and culture of food, which is worth a visit as well. L'Horloge Fleurie

4.2/5
206 reviews
L'Horloge Fleurie stands on the promenade along Lake Geneva, located on the west side of the English Garden, combining Geneva's two specialties—watchmaking and horticulture—into a single flowerbed. It was built in 1955 to pay tribute to the local watchmaking tradition: the movement is hidden beneath the flowerbed, and the clock face, which is about 5 meters in diameter, along with the 12 Arabic numerals, are all "planted" with flowers and greenery. A second hand over 2 meters long sweeps slowly over the flowers. The time is calibrated by satellite. It is not just a decorative display, but a fully functional clock. The flowers on the clock face are changed four times a year according to the season: in summer, they are replaced with begonias or succulents; in autumn and winter, pansies are planted; and around March, it's the primroses' turn to take the stage. Therefore, the patterns and color schemes you see will be different depending on when you visit.Switzerland · Geneva

Jardin Anglais is located on the left bank of Lake Geneva. Established in 1854, it is a lakeside park designed in the English landscape garden style, where lawns, large trees, and winding paths replace regular, symmetrical layouts. It can be accessed by walking along the lake after crossing the Mont Blanc Bridge. The park is lush and shaded, with expansive views of the lake. Standing by the shore, you can see the water jet of the Geneva Jet d'eau, making it a perfect spot to take a break and enjoy the view while walking around the lake. The park's signature view is L'Horloge Fleurie, built in 1955. The clock face is composed of thousands of seasonal flowers, and the patterns change with the seasons, so the color combinations you see will differ depending on when you visit. In addition to L'Horloge Fleurie, the park also features the bronze Four Seasons Fountain, the National Monument commemorating Geneva's accession to the Swiss Confederation, and memorial busts of painters and sculptors. The statues and tree shadows are interspersed throughout, making it perfect for a slow, leisurely stroll.Switzerland · Geneva

Lake Geneva, which shares the same name as the city, is very vast, with a sapphire-like color and sparkling in the sun. From Geneva Airport, you can take a train to Nyon, a small town on the shore of Lake Geneva. The hotel rooms there are large, and the lake view rooms also have terraces to enjoy the lake view. The breakfast is very rich and cost-effective. From the dock in Nyon, you can take a boat to the French flower town opposite and experience the fun of crossing two countries in half an hour. The price of the flower town is lower than that of Switzerland, and it is very pleasant to enjoy authentic French food there.

Annecy's old town sits right by the lake, with canals winding through it like a spider web. Colorful old houses line the cobblestone streets, their windowsills adorned with flowers. The Palais de l'Île, nestled in the middle of the canal, is a photogenic triangular structure. People sunbathe on the lakeside grass, the water so clear you can see the fish. Walking along the canal, you'll inevitably encounter ice cream shops; a stroll around will leave you with two empty cups in your hands.

The old town still has its own flavor. The old streets, leisurely people, and busy business elites are all mixed together. There is no sense of disobedience in the same space. The feeling of Europe is really good. It is worth a visit.

Roussillon is a historic region in southwestern France, nestled in the northern foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains. Historically part of Catalonia, it roughly corresponds to the present-day Occitanie department of the Occitanie region, with the Aude department often included within its boundaries. The area is characterized by its unique red clay cliffs, formed by the rich ochre-rich soils of the surrounding area, displaying shades of yellow, orange, and red. Many of the village's buildings are constructed using locally sourced red and yellow clay, earning it the nickname "Red Cities." Local legends tell of the origin of the red clay and a love story. In 1659, the Treaty of the Pyrenees between France and Spain ceded Roussillon to France. The region was renowned for its ochre deposits, and artisanal mining flourished from the late 18th century, with ochre pigments exported worldwide. By the late 20th century, due to soil erosion caused by long-term mining, the area was designated a national nature reserve, prohibiting industrial mining. Roussillon is also a wine region, producing geographically designated wines such as Côtes du Roussillon. The wine industry in this region is managed by relevant industry associations, and in 2011, the Chinese translation of the region's wines was "露喜龙" (Lu Xi Long). Since the early 1980s, tourism has gradually replaced mining.

We took the cable car up the mountain, and when we got off the cable car, we found ourselves standing in front of the church. After visiting the church, we found a place similar to a small garden, where we could have a cup of coffee while overlooking the city below the mountain.

When you come to Geneva, Switzerland, everyone knows about the famous flower clock; but few people know about the English Garden where the flower clock is located. The English Garden, covering an area of 25,000 square meters, is the largest of the series of urban parks on the shores of Lake Geneva in downtown Geneva. In 1854, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Geneva's joining the Swiss Confederation, the English Garden was built on the shores of Lake Geneva on the north side of the old city. Another hundred years later - in 1955, the world's first flower clock was built on the southwest edge of the garden. The flower clock, with a dial diameter of 5 meters and composed of more than 6,500 bright flowers, has been ranked first in the world for decades and is deeply loved by citizens and tourists. Gradually, the flower clock has become a landmark of Geneva, while the name of the English Garden has been quietly forgotten. After getting up close with the big flower clock, we walked into the English Garden, where lush and towering ancient trees, spacious and lush green lawns, fountains with overflowing water, and quaint and elegant pavilions complement each other with the clear blue lake and couples walking hand in hand... It feels romantic and fresh, it's really great.
