Things to do in Yadong

Gangbala Mountain is located between Langkazi County and Gonggar County in Shannan, Tibet. It is adjacent to Yamdrok Lake in the south, Gangdise Mountain in the east, and the Himalayas in the west, stretching across the center of Tibet. The car drove along the winding mountain road and crossed the mountain top. The altitude of the pass was 4,980 meters, which is an excellent location for taking panoramic views of Yamdrok Lake.

Turn from G219 to Yadong direction and take S208 to the foot of the mountain, where there is a parking area. The snow on the top of the mountain can be clearly seen through camera lenses and telescopes. Zhuomulaji (female) and Kangchenzhangjia (male) look at each other from a distance. The lake is not very wide, and on the other side there stretches a group of snow-capped mountains, on which the snow is like condensed fat, and the clouds are like white curtains. The snow and clouds are hidden, and you can't tell how high the mountains are or how thick the clouds are. I think this colorful lake must be the melted white snow on the mountains, which makes it even more amazing.

The seasonal climate of Shigatse is much later than that of the plains. The best season is the late spring and early autumn, when the grasslands are full of vitality. After passing Kangma County to Yadong County, you will see endless grasslands, which is the famous Pari grassland in Tibet. Cows and sheep stroll in it and graze leisurely. Thanks to the lush grass and water, the yaks and sheep living here are taller than those in Nagqu, Ali and other areas of Tibet.

The experience was excellent. It's so convenient for tourists who don't drive to get to Yamdrok Lake. The driver was also very nice and made sure to stop at each viewpoint for a good amount of time so that tourists could enjoy the view and take photos. Thumbs up!

Driver Danba Dunzhu is extremely responsible, especially punctual, and has excellent driving skills. He carefully reminds drivers of all safety precautions every time the car is restarted. He is the best driver I've encountered so far in my trip to Tibet.

This time, I booked a small group tour of 8 people from Shigatse to the Mount Everest base camp, and the overall experience was excellent. The driver drove very steadily, and the schedule was reasonable. He reminded everyone along the way to be aware of altitude sickness, dress warmly, and prioritize safety, and was patient and helpful when needed. Although Mount Everest was constantly shrouded in clouds due to weather conditions, preventing us from seeing the entire peak, which was a bit of a disappointment, natural weather is uncontrollable, and the itinerary itself was fine. The vehicle was clean, and with a small group, it wasn't too crowded. The high-altitude valleys, mountain passes, and Everest Base Camp along the way were all very unique, and the driver was responsible, without rushing us or forcing us to spend money. Overall, the service exceeded my expectations, making it a safe and smooth trip to Mount Everest, and I highly recommend it.

The foot of the glacier is 5,020 meters high, so climbing it really requires careful consideration. When the guide asked if we could rent oxygen tanks, I quickly raised my hand. Step by step, even with oxygen, it was difficult to climb. I felt exhausted. Then, a small lake appeared. Some people circled the lake and continued to ascend, so I gave up decisively. The movie "Red River Valley" was filmed here, making the Karola Glacier quite famous. Many travelers come here to admire the magnificent glacier and marvel at the charm of nature.
