Konigsseeis located in an Alpine valley on the German-Austrian border, south of Berchtesgaden, and is a long, narrow lake carved by glaciers. The lake stretches approx. 7.7 km from north to south, with steep rock walls on both sides and mountains plunging directly into the water. On the west bank, the towering east face of the Watzmann mountain rises abruptly. The lake water is emerald green and clear, with a maximum depth of approx. 190 m. Taking a boat tour is the classic way to experience the lake. The boat makes a short stop in front of the Echo Wall in the middle of the lake. The captain plays a trumpet, and the sound bounces off the cliffs, creating multiple echoes. The route has several stops, and most people get off at the St. Bartholomew peninsula—the Pilgrimage Church of St. Bartholomew, with its red onion-shaped domes, is set against steep cliffs and reflected in the lake, making it an iconic sight here. If you get off at the final stop, Salet, you can reach the Obersee hidden in the mountain hollow after a short walk. Walking further, you can see the Röthbach Waterfall cascading down from a great height. You can also take the cable car up the Jennerbahn on the east bank to overlook this "green fjord" nestled among the mountains.Schonau am Konigssee · 29.1 km from Zell am See

Neuschwanstein Castle

4.5/5

Neuschwanstein Castle is located in the foothills of the Alps in Bavaria, Germany, near the Austrian border and not far from the small town of Füssen. Built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria as a tribute to composer Wagner and inspired by the legend of the "Swan Knight" Lohengrin, construction began in 1869. Its fairy-tale appearance—white walls, blue domes, and scattered spires—served as the inspiration for Disney's Sleeping Beauty Castle. It is perennially regarded as Germany's tourism icon. The castle interior was originally planned to have over 200 rooms, but by the time of the king's death in 1886, only a dozen had been completed, each exquisitely crafted. The throne hall's dome is painted with a star-studded blue night sky, while the floor features mosaic patterns of flora and fauna, with a chandelier modeled after a Byzantine crown hanging high above. The Gothic double bed in the king's bedroom took over four years to carve by more than a dozen sculptors. The relatively large singers' hall in the castle, adorned with murals of "Lohengrin" and "Parsifal," was modeled after the Wartburg singers' hall and still hosts concerts every September. Swan motifs are nearly omnipresent, appearing in murals, door handles, and washstands. Interestingly, this medieval-inspired castle was already equipped with telephones, central heating, hot water, and automatic flushing toilets at the time, making it remarkably advanced for its era. To capture the classic postcard-perfect shot, head to Marienbrücke. This pedestrian bridge, suspended over the Pöllat Gorge, faces the southern facade of the castle and is not far from the bus drop-off point. It gets crowded in the afternoon, so an early visit is recommended. You can take the shuttle bus, a horse-drawn carriage, or hike up the mountain. The hiking route offers a bird's-eye view of the castle, and along the way, you can also see the yellow Hohenschwangau Castle, the old royal palace on the opposite hill. The castle's ending carries a touch of tragedy: Ludwig II built it with his private funds and loans, facing strong opposition from his ministers. On a late night in June 1886, he was arrested in his castle bedroom and mysteriously died days later by Lake Starnberg. Seven weeks later, the castle opened to the public. Today, visiting the interior requires following a guide, and photography is prohibited inside. Live guides provide commentary in English or German, while an audio guide is available for Chinese. Visitor guide To the castle There are three ways to reach the castle: taking the shuttle bus, riding a carriage, or going on foot. Most people choose to take the shuttle bus, then walk a short distance to Neuschwanstein Castle, where there is a viewing platform to overlook another castle—Hohenschwangau. You can also reach the castle by carriage, where you can enjoy picturesque scenery along the way, and the witty carriage driver will share legendary stories that happened here. After disembarking, it's just a short walk to the castle entrance. If you don't want to wait in line for the shuttle bus or prefer outdoor activities, you can also hike to Neuschwanstein Castle. Along the way, you can capture an aerial view of the castle, and there are relatively fewer travelers. Take a postcard-perfect photo of the castle Marienbrücke (Mary's Bridge) is located near the terminal stop of the uphill bus. This 100 m-high bridge spans between two cliffs, with its floor made of wooden planks that slightly bounce when stepped on. Here, you can capture the famous postcard-perfect shot of Neuschwanstein Castle. If you arrive early before your scheduled visit time, you can first head to Marienbrücke to photograph the beautiful view of Neuschwanstein Castle, as the bridge gets overcrowded after noon. Guided tour To visit the castle interior, you must follow the official guide. The guide provides services in English and German. You can also choose to use an audio guide (available in Chinese). After the visit, you can take a short break at the café inside the castle.Germany · Schwangau

Magic Forest

Magic Forest is named for the unique, wild view created by the interplay of boulder piles formed by a landslide thousands of years ago and rushing streams. Ancient rocks cascaded into the valley floor, creating stone formations. Since then, trees have grown among the scattered rocks, their roots wrapping around moss-covered boulders, while clear streams flow between them, forming a natural landscape that feels like a pristine, secret realm. The forest area features well-maintained trails, with geological interpretation signs along the way that tell the story of the ancient geological changes caused by the landslide. Walking through it, the tall, dense forest, intertwined roots, and scattered boulders complement each other, adding a strong sense of narrative and exploration to the hike. The edge of the forest connects to an open lake, where the mirror-like water reflects the surrounding peaks. The scenery here changes with the seasons—green in spring, red in autumn, and snow-covered rocks in winter—showcasing the enduring beauty of the natural ecosystem in the Alpine valley.Ramsau · 31.7 km from Zell am See

D23 Schönau-King's Lake-Ramsau-Back Lake-Stay in Lofersalach Valley King's Lake is located 5 kilometers south of Berchtesgaden, a small town on the border between Germany and Austria. It is known as the most beautiful lake in Germany. It is named after the shape of the surrounding peaks, such as the peaks symbolizing the king and queen, their children and the witch peak lying down. It is the deepest lake in Germany, with a maximum depth of 200 meters. Surrounded by mountains, the lake water is clear, and there is no pollution in the lake when electric boats travel. Wandering by boat, on the cliffs of the "Echo Wall", is a famous program for cruise ships: the captain blows the trumpet facing the cliff, and the echo can be clearly heard, and then takes the hat to collect tips. St. Bartholomew's Chapel is a landmark on the west bank of the Hirschau Peninsula of King's Lake. It has a unique shape and is known as a representative of the Baroque style. Go to the pier at the south end of the lake and then go forward to the upper lake. The lake is not big, but the color is comparable to the Five Flower Sea in Jiuzhaigou! The southern end of the upper lake is a pasture, and there are many swimmers who are not afraid of the cold by the lake! The dreamy colors can only be explained by pictures!

We choose the horse carriage ride up, it was €8 a person. It took around 20 minutes and we enjoyed the forest view. Make sure to arrive and park at least an hour early. The entrance time is exact to every 5 minutes for crowd control. The entrance ticket includes an audio set and takes around 30 minutes. You are moved thru the rooms rather quickly. There are free lockers at information at the entrance area if needed. No pictures can be taken during the tour. **not handicapped friendly ** must be able to walk for 2-3 hours and climb up and down many flights of stairs. There are no elevators. We planned to walk down but it began to rain. So we took the horse carriage again -/€4/person.

Parking in the parking lot in the city center around Lake Zell costs 2 euros per hour and a maximum of 18 euros per day. You can walk along the lake and bring your picnic items to rest and swim by the lake. You can also choose to take a boat, with different prices for inside and outside the cabin. Afterwards, you can walk around the pedestrian street in the city center. There is also a bicycle path by the lake~

An overall good experience with lots of historic reference s. Takes atleast 2-3hrs if you don't want to skip exhibition s. The musuem is open until 18:00 so plan accordingly. Many references only have a german description written next to them, but overall it is English friendly. Would only recommend this place if you are a big art enthusiast, and not just going in for a casual tour. The museum right next to it (natural history musuem) will be a better choice then.

Scanning the QR code at the entrance was quick and easy. The Belvedere Palace's art exhibition spans three floors, enough to easily fill a whole day. The park outside features fountains and sculptures depicting various figures from ancient Greek mythology. I sent photos and pictures of the sculptures to Doubao, and he explained them in detail.

Magic Forest Zauberwald For me, who doesn't like sports, it's quite big, the scenery is beautiful, and it's suitable for taking pictures~ For those who like to take pictures and pose, please pay attention, you must wear sports shoes, after all, the roads in the forest are not easy to walk~ There are several hiking routes around the Magic Forest, it is really a paradise for hiking enthusiasts~
