Below are hiking routes for the two main areas, offering a seamless and in-depth experience of Danxia Mountain. ★ Elder Peak – Xianglong Lake Area (Approximately 5 hours) ① Start from the Elder Peak ticket gate, climb to the Halfway Pavilion, and follow the signs towards Jinshiyan Temple, passing the Danxia Mountain Pagoda Tomb Complex to reach the temple. Enjoy views of unique temple architecture, ancient cliff carvings, beautiful natural scenery, and the magical dragon scale-shaped rocks. Afterwards, enter Baizhang Gorge from Longquan Rock at the entrance of Jinshiyan Temple, exit through the Youdong Tongtian Cave, and return to the Halfway Pavilion via the same route. ② Continue climbing from the Halfway Pavilion, admiring the cliff carvings along the way, until you reach the old gate of Danxia Mountain. Entering the gate leads to Biechuan Temple, where you can quietly experience the ancient temple's Zen atmosphere. ③ After exiting Biechuan Temple, ascend the Danxia iron chain path facing the mountain wall to reach the mountaintop supply station. You can visit the Sunrise Pavilion for a panoramic view of the continuous Danxia peaks and the Mianjiang River winding like a jade ribbon, then return to the supply station; alternatively, you can climb to Conch Peak to view the Conch Peak Stupa, then circle around Fire Rock and Conch Rock before returning to the supply station. ④ From the mountaintop supply station, follow the signs down the mountain via Shuangxi Terrace to find Yinyuan Stone. Take photos, then walk along the shore of Xianglong Lake past Xianju Taoist Temple, returning to the Elder Peak ticket checkpoint. If you are too tired, you can take a boat directly to the starting point. ★ Yangyuan Stone—Tongtai Bridge Scenic Area (approximately 4 hours) ① From the Yangyuan Mountain ticket checkpoint, head straight to the Yangyuan Stone viewing platform to take photos of the iconic rock. You can also climb to the Baiyang Terrace for a full view of Yangyuan Stone. ② From the Yangyuan Stone Viewing Platform, follow the signs towards the Twin Breast Stones along the wooden boardwalk to the Huichun Valley Viewing Platform. Look up and take a photo of the Twin Breast Stones, then continue to the intersection of the boardwalk and the road. Then, following the signs towards Tongtai Bridge, visit Tongtai Natural Bridge, Shaibu Cliff, Seal Stone, Hunyuan Cave, Lion Rock Temple Ruins, and Yunmen in a clockwise direction, finally returning to the intersection. ③ From the intersection, climb the 99 steep steps to Ximei Village, then slowly walk to Jiadun Pavilion for a panoramic view of the magnificent natural scenery. This is also an excellent spot for sunset photography. ④ After enjoying the scenery, carefully descend the steep cliffside boardwalk back to the Yangyuan Stone Viewing Platform, then return to the Yangyuan Mountain ticket gate via the same route. The two main tourist areas are connected by the "Water Danxia" cruise ship, which takes approximately 40 minutes. During the voyage, scenic spots such as Sleeping Beauty, Elephants Crossing the River, Jinyan Great Red Cliff, Guanyin Sending a Child, and Teapot Peak come into view one after another, adding to the charm of the hiking trip and making the journey even more exciting.
