Very interesting place to visit to learn about the history of the royal family and see some great docorations. Self_guided audio tour was nicely put together and free with the entrance. I love the backdrop of Arthur's seat and the ruin of the chapel.
excellent chance to know the palace more and who rules scotland, would be great for tourists to pay a visit
It's worth a visit. The ticket includes a Chinese guided tour. The itinerary is unique, covering stories of the royal family today as well as the legendary life of Queen Mary, making it a truly immersive experience. The outdoor view is wide, and while you're in the city, you get a glimpse into the diverse landscapes of Scotland.
Hollywood Palace, located under Carlton Hill, is the residence of the Scottish royal family and is still in use. The environment here is elegant and the trees are very beautiful. Major visits include the Palace Museum, Chapel Site and Backyard Garden in the main building. But here the palace is forbidden to take pictures and other places are optional. There is a Chinese phonetic guide in the museum, which can help you understand the Royal Family of Scotland and England better. It's very good.
At the Hollywood Palace Ticket Office, the total cost of purchasing four-person tickets in cash is 46, the ticket price is 12 for adults and 11 for people over 60, including the use of guides. After entering the palace gate, I got the guide with Chinese explanation and began to travel along the prescribed route under the guidance of the guide. First, I heard the introduction of this palace in the courtyard, which belongs to the Queen of England's palace in Scotland and has a long history. Afterwards, I went into the room to view the square courtyard, which is the green inner courtyard surrounded by the building. No photographs were allowed in the building. So we put away our cameras, listened carefully to the guide and carefully watched the layout and facilities in the open rooms. From the big stairs upstairs, we began to feel the luxury of the Royal family, the huge Tapestry in every room, the exquisite gypsum board sculpture on every roof, the choice and layout of every piece of furniture, what we saw and heard made us immerse in the luxury atmosphere of Royal life. Unlike the Royal Palace we saw at Windsor Castle in London, this Hollywood Palace is more gloomy and heavy because of Queen Mary's historical story. Visiting Hollywood Palace, we can see the true appearance of the Thistle Knight Medal, and have a better understanding of it. The oldest and noblest Thistle Medal is a kind of Medal awarded to Scottish knights. Its current version was made by King James II in 1687. Its wearers are extremely rare. In general, there are only 16 honorees alive, except for the British monarch. This year is the ninetieth birthday of Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen's Dress Exhibition was held in Hollywood Palace. From the Queen's children's clothes to now, many dresses have been worn. The design and production of the Queen's clothing attracts worldwide attention because it represents the national image. With photos and costume exhibitions combined with Chinese explanations in the guide, we can learn more. After a visit to the interior of Hollywood Palace, I went to the cathedral next to the palace. This is a medieval cathedral that has been completely ruined. It is rare for such a cathedral to remain in the palace. The name of this church is the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, so Hollywood Palace is also called the Palace of the Holy Cross.
Holyrood Palace is also called Holy Cross Palace. Built by James V in 1498, it was originally a monastery and later became the palace of the Scottish royal family. It is still the residence of the Queen of England when she comes to Scotland. Like Buckingham Palace and other royal palaces, the royal flag will be raised in the palace whenever the Queen lives here. Next to the palace is Holy Cross Park. Holyrood Palace and Edinburgh Castle are the two central points of Edinburgh, connected by the Royal Mile. Due to time constraints, we only visited the exterior.
Visiting Hollywood Palace to Hollywood Palace is the official residence of the royal family in Scotland. It is still the royal residence of the Queen of England in Scotland. Hollywood Palace was built by James V in 1498. Holy Rood Abbey, the predecessor of the Palace of Holyrood, is still part of the palace, most of which were built in the 12th and 13th centuries (introduced separately). There have been many incidents in the history of Hollywood Palace, the most famous of which is Queen Mary of Scotland, who claimed to be the most beautiful woman at that time. She lost her throne in a mutiny shortly after her third marriage and was finally executed for plotting for the throne of England. Because photography is prohibited indoors, I borrowed photos from Google's official website. The palace is magnificent and magnificent, with Chinese tour guides, the decoration of the palace is clear. The door opens at 9.30 a.m. and adult tickets cost 12 pounds. It takes more than two hours to visit.
This is the testimony of Scottish history and the beginning of the Royal mile. The guard at the door carries a typical Scottish skirt and has a good accent. On the walls, the unicorns on the gates are very striking, always reminding you of the dignity of history. It is still the royal residence of the Queen of England in Scotland.
