Mai Po Nature Reserve includes shrimp ponds and fish ponds managed by people (collectively known as gai wai), as well as a vast area of intertidal swamps, trees and mudflats. The famous Mai Po Bird House is the highlight. The bird house is divided into three floors, each with four observation windows in front and one on the side. Each floor is equipped with two monoculars, and the window view is excellent, overlooking a large wetland in front without disturbing the birds.
Mai Po Nature Reserve is the most important nature reserve in Hong Kong. It covers a large area and has very precious animal and plant resources, including the mangroves we are familiar with, as well as up to a hundred species of migratory birds and insects. Many species are very rare. The reserve is open to the public free of charge. In winter, it is a habitat for migratory birds. Many people come with cameras to take pictures of this natural wonder. The air there is especially fresh. You can bring your children here to convey some awareness of protecting nature.
Mipu Nature Reserve is a little far away, but the transportation is quite convenient. My friend and I are photography enthusiasts, so we came here specifically to take pictures. The natural scenery is very beautiful, and there are many birds. The scenery is nice at dusk.
Mai Po wetland is a great place to visit (if you like bird watching and getting to know more about the nature :)
