Recently a great mate of mine and I took a trip back down memory lane, visiting the Burleigh Heads Hotel along with my wife. During the early to late 70s we used to swim on the beach and have lunch and beers at the hotel. The fish and chips was excellent. So we went back there the other day (the place is massive and modern compared to the 70s) and lo! The Famous Fish & Chips was still on the menu 46 years later, and they were still excellent. Best fish and chips in the country. Okay, we couldn't get XXXX Bitter on tap, but instead we drank Monsuta Okinawara Dry and the beer was great, extra great with the fish and chips. The accompanying salad had morphed from the old pub iceberg lettuce special to a trendy colourful sort of salad but it too was very tasty. We sat outside like we used to, facing the beach. And we regaled ourselves with humorous memories, pretending we were in our 20s again while the wife sat there looking bored as crap, although she too did think the Famous Fish & Chips were to die for. So a trip back in time that proved to be exhilarating. Of course, it's entirely possible the hotel isn't the same one, but our memory of it was it's where this one is sited, and the name is the same, and the fish and chips are as good if not better. Anyhow - we were happy.

This hotel was super comfortable, loved the QR code order system - order and pay on your phone, liked how we didn't have to go to the bar for drinks either - QR code , order and pay on your phone and drinks get delivered to your table ????

Such a beautiful place near the beach!! Very nice calm feel....Will be coming back for sure! The food was amazing and the staff was very helpful with the menu!
