Santiago Guesthouse Kyoto

Gion/Kiyomizu Temple
A decent guesthouse with comfy beds and spacious showers. There's a little kitchenette in the luggage/common area. Downsides are the 4pm check-in, which is a bit late and the sleeping cubes. The beds are comfortable and there's plenty of room, but the top beds have an open top. So the noise of anyone moving/snoring or people using the lights is completely unavoidable. The first night was no good because of these factors. Other than that, the location is good and everything is clean and tidy.

Nijo Castle
I used a dormitory that I used to save money because I was traveling alone, but it was very quiet and I rested better than I thought. The host also recommends a place to go to the surrounding restaurants and restaurants. He was so kind The hostel was clean and the breakfast was delicious. It's equipped with disposable supplies, towels and skin lotion. Close to the train station and take the Sanin main line, you will go to Arashiyama soon. However, the carrier storage is cleaned between 12 and 5 o'clock, so it cannot be stored in the hostel. You said you could put it in front of the front door, so I didn't know, so I left the carrier in front of the door except for the valuables. Anyway, I rest so well !!

Gion/Kiyomizu Temple
It takes 15 minutes to walk from the subway station. It is a bit far. Yasaka Shrine and Kiyomizu Temple are nearby. It is very convenient for sightseeing. It is very clean. There is no problem with mixed sex accommodation. Everyone has a sense of boundaries. It is safe. The price is also cheap in Kyoto. It is very cost-effective.

Ohara/Kibune/Kurama
This is a love hotel. It has all the necessities, bed, bath and toilet. Unfortunately the hotel has a very dated feel, lighting ,carpet and wall show its age. Love hotel rooms are big , and this is no exception. Also big :) Not the most exciting or modern love hotel I have been to. For cheap and last minute accommodations it's no problem for seasoned travelers. There is no issue with cleanliness, bed sheets, wash and toilet area are clean. You may need to deal with cigarette odour, there is some spray provided, but it's not very effective. Keep your expectations in check, again it's a love hotel. Let's hope they will do a refresh or revamp.
Uji Tea Inn

Booked two nights at Cha Inn, day 2 was room 206, the tatami, old furniture and small decorations were very nice, the air conditioner heated the room very quickly. Although it was a shared bathroom and the room was full that night, it was still very convenient. The only downside was that the window was facing a small street and there was occasional car noise, but it happened to be a little tired after walking for a few days, and I soon snored.

Kyoto Station and surrounding areas
Very retro Japanese-style hotel, a good choice for traveling to Kyoto. The room is a tatami floor with a mattress on it, which is very comfortable to sleep. The room is fully equipped, but I don't know why the room was not cleaned the next day. There is a public bath with Japanese characteristics in the hotel. There are not many people and the environment is very good. The hotel is next to Kyoto Station, which is convenient for transportation, but the English at the front desk is relatively poor, so it is a bit difficult to communicate.

If you are a traveller like us who would like some more privacy, this place is not exactly for you. Don't get me wrong, the hotel staff are absolutely wonderful. Just that most things are communal and you have wait for your turn to shower and finish by 11.35. The walls are quite thin indeed, you can easily hear people walking on the hallway or simply chatting in their rooms.
Niko Niko Capsule Hotel

You get what you pay for here, cheap and cheerful. The main downside is no shower unless you pay ¥1750 but at that price point you can get a good hotel instead. The bed is quite hard too so not a comfortable sleep, but you can’t complain at the very low price especially if it’s just for a one night stop over. Nearby are most of the additional things you need too as it’s very close to the town centre, which is easily walkable including the train station.

Gion/Kiyomizu Temple
A shop that I really like. Near Qingshui Temple, it is very convenient to go to the sights. Although small but very complete and clean, in addition to the need to prepare towels, other facilities are available. I will stay here in Kyoto later. The boss and the younger brother at the front desk are also very fun. I like it very much.
Mulan Hostel

Arashiyama/Sagano/Takao
The hotel was booked on the way from Osaka. I didn't expect the environment to be much better than expected. The staff was very friendly (and could speak Chinese!) and gave me a map of the surrounding restaurants and a tourist map of Arashiyama. And the luggage can be stored for free for 24 hours after check-out, which was really touching😭 It takes three minutes to get to the subway station, and it is also very close to Togetsukyo Bridge. It takes about five minutes to walk to the scenic area. There is also a Yusai Pavilion similar to Rurikoin. It will be more beautiful when the maple leaves are in season. There are free coffee machines and microwaves in the public space of the hotel. You can sit and read comic books and TV. In addition, Halloween decorations have also appeared. There will be piano music in the public space. It is very comfortable to sit and drink tea and coffee. Although I only stayed in three hotels during this trip to Kansai, this hotel is the most satisfactory one. I feel very warm when traveling alone. If I come to Arashiyama again, I will choose Mulan Hotel!
