"The hotel's location is excellent. The surrounding views and the city skyline are beautiful, both during the day and especially at night. As I had requested a quiet room so I could get enough rest, the hotel staff made every effort to accommodate my request, and I was satisfied with the result. Although a small amount of noise could still be heard in the room, it was minor and easy to overlook. The cleanliness of the hotel was very good, and the staff were friendly, professional, and helpful throughout my stay. Overall, I had a pleasant experience and would be happy to stay here again."

"A good-value studio apartment close to the CBD and many stores & restaurants. A late check-in was well organised with codes and key in a safe. The open-plan kitchen & lounge was spacious with large TV. Bedroom a strange design with little privacy directly from the entrance. Front desk staff helpful to correct a few minor issues and shortages. No amenities (pool, gym etc) but good for a place to cook a meal and sleep."

"The location was a bit hard to find, and after 4 PM, you had to call them for check-in. However, the room itself was clean and new. It's a guesthouse, so there are no services, and they don't clean the room during your stay. I didn't realize before booking that the neighborhood is a bar street, so there were a lot of teens and homeless people around, which made me a bit uneasy coming back at night. You could constantly hear police sirens outside the window."

Hotel near Brisbane Central Business District,Spring Hill
Set in Spring Hill on the doorstep of Brisbane's vibrant CBD, THE JOHNSON takes its design cues from celebrated Australian abstract artist, Michael Johnson. Offering guests a choice of self-contained, open-plan suites including an elegant penthouse, 50-metre pool with a sundeck, a gymnasium, plus conference and events facilities, lashings of Johnson artworks in-house art libraries and a dedicated art channel.

"Public transportation isn't very convenient, especially at night when returning to the hotel. Buses often run late, requiring a long, hilly hike. Daytime buses are available, but they're not very frequent. It's quite a distance up a hill from the central area, and quite far. The shower in the bathroom makes a strange mechanical noise when you turn it on, but having two sinks is a plus. The bed in the room had some black spots, but it was quite large. It's just a low floor, with no view or privacy from the window. The second floor faces a busy garage. The next morning, my credit card was inexplicably charged over $270, in addition to the $100 deposit. I emailed the manager, but there was no explanation, just an apology and a refund. It was very confusing."

"An absolutely excellent place stay, would recommend, even just based on the staff and the breakfast. I observed that great care was taken of people checking in to stay who would be going to the hospitals local to the area. Check-in was so easy, and the reception staff was very kind. Things I loved: * the included healthy breakfast, * free on-site parking *Ferrari in the reception area (no idea why it's there, and I'm no car enthusiast, but it is a classy touch) * very friendly and kind staff * neat and good layout of room * comfortable bed * good air conditioning * friendly people throughout the building * walking distance to Chermside shopping centre * excellent price Thing I didn't like as much: * not really sound-proofed, you sometimes hear sounds from other rooms and hallways * the balcony area did have a bit of a smell in the early evening, dissuading me from eating outside until later on - this might have just been the day I stayed. It was nice enough later to leave the door open and have a bit of a breeze while sleeping. Highly recommended."

GGuest UserIt was a bit painful from the get go checking in. You have to go to a different hotel a block over. There is nowhere to park to check in. I called the number to be put through to a call centre that isn’t on site. Call 1: yes you can park in the visitor parking just buzz and they’ll let you in. Call 2: while blocking the driveway I’m unable to find a buzzer that reaches reception. Operator sounds confused, I hang up and someone is coming out so I sneak in. Call 3: I’m parked in visitor parks, go up the lift and come out at another building. She again sounds confused. If I go out the door I won’t be able to get back in without a fob, so I’m asking which way I should go. There are no signs to tell me how to get to Ivy and Eve apartments. I eventually find a worker who takes me around to reception. Sorted. Or so I think. I check in with reception. The girl was really lovely and informative. So I think, until I reach the carpark of the next building I’m staying at. The sheet of paper she gave me says “your allocated car space is 131 and is located on 55. I drive in looking for level 55, car space 131. Neither of these exist. Call 4: Where is my carpark? Am I missing something. Keep in mind every time I call I’m asked to give all my details so they can verify my booking so by now I’m pretty tired of it all. She finds my booking and says oh yes you’re in park 55 on level B1. (See photo for why I was confused!) I drive around the carpark looking for a 55. It doesn’t exist. All carparks are labelled with a sign saying Art house and 4 numbers. Ok maybe it’s the last 2? Nope doesn’t exist. After driving around for a bit I realise there are numbers on the ground of the carpark that are completely different to the signs (I didn’t look at the ground because the signs said art house) So finally I work out that this is my park. Another confused guest stops to ask me where his park might be and I explain it’s the floor ones not the art house signs. So I wasn’t the only one. Ok so park the car, go upstairs to room 1106 which of course is on floor 10. Makes sense lol. As soon as I open the door I’m hit with a wet musty kind of smell. Like the place had been flooded and not allowed to dry out properly maybe? I opened all the windows and when that didn’t work I went and bought some air freshener to hide the smell a bit. We left all the doors open all night and next day and the smell improved. The lounge chairs are not comfy if you’re looking for a stay in watch Netflix type staycay, but the beds are really comfy. The place was pretty immaculately clean so that was nice. And washer dryer were great to have. If I had have known I’d need to go through all that checkin at another building I would not have booked. Maybe I missed the part that mentioned this? Ahh well we enjoyed our stay in general, it just didn’t get off to a good start.

GGuest UserMeriton Suites boasts an excellent location and well-equipped rooms, featuring an induction hob, fridge, oven, dryer, and washing machine—truly all the comforts of home. At AUD 166, considering the amenities and location alone, it's definitely good value for money. However, what's truly off-putting is their policy of refusing cash payments and charging a 1.5% surcharge for all card transactions. This feels like an unfair, 'take-it-or-leave-it' clause. I had enough cash on me, but they forced me to pay by card, essentially making me incur the processing fee. Even more ridiculous, they charge an extra fee for card payments for the AUD 20 parking fee. The entire experience was terrible. While the hardware gets high marks, their charging rules and service attitude are very poor and incredibly inflexible.

GGuest UserSurfers Beach Holiday Apartments was a great place to stay for our family. The management was helpful. Rooms were of a good size. The location is quiet. It is a easy walk to catch the G:tram. This makes getting to Surfers Paradise or other locations easy. Riding the G is also much cheaper and easier than trying to find parking for the car. While we were there, there were few people using the pool. Our grandkids had a great time... and mostly had the pool to themselves. I didn't realize there wasn't an elevator.(My fault for not checking.) Being on the third floor normally wouldn't have been an issue. Because of health issues for one of our family members, it would have been easier if we had been on a lower floor. If I had contacted the management when booking they said they would have tried to give us a lower floor. It's a great place and I highly recommend it.

GGuest UserThis was not our first stay and in the main it was good. We stayed twice on this trip with a stint on Magnetic Island in between. Service on our departure stay was while not bad was marred by the gentleman who was abrupt and less than enthusiastic about being helpful. We arrived in the morning knowing we couldn’t get in until later and were greeted by a friendly and helpful reception attendant. Who said we would let us know by text as soon as a room was available for us. We took that to mean if we could enter our room before the scheduled check in time we would get a message. We never got a message. In fact we had ran out of ways to entertain ourselves and keep cool with just under an hour to check in time. So we went to the reception to assign the room was ready and were grumpily informed our room wasn’t ready and that is why we had not had a text. We understood this could be the case but the summary dismissal was far from reasonable customer service. No apology given we had patiently waited for over four hours already. We waited in the lobby and watched as others were given rooms. Why we had to wait while others did not was given no explanation and made no senseh to us. When check in time came and went is when I had to contain myself. One thing for us to be shunned for being early but for them to tell our room was not available at the time the business had committed to was very frustrating. It showed they had no system and were unprepared to provide reasonable customer service. We waited patiently and thankfully not for much longer and maintained our positive countenance. Thank goodness the room was, while only on the first floor, the better of rooms we had stayed in and worth the wait had it been managed better. If it weren’t for the grumpy reception we would have rated this trip more highly. Hopefully this business can get its cleaning process and attitude to customers of male staff improved the location value and room would be highly recommended as is a little work to do.

JJindaozhuziwangWe arrived at the hotel at 11 PM. We had booked two rooms. A female staff member at the front desk helped us extend our stay in the original room type. However, during check-in, we found one room was on the 16th floor and the other on the 5th, which was inconvenient for looking after an elderly family member traveling with us. Unfortunately, the hotel was fully booked, so a room change wasn't possible. The front desk staff advised us to check out of room 505 by 10 AM the next day, store our luggage at the front desk, and then move to room 1604 after 2 PM. After checking in, we realized that checking out of one room at 10 AM would disrupt our family's rest, so we went back to the lobby to negotiate keeping the original rooms without switching. A new shift had started, and a male manager in the lobby along with two front desk staff members repeatedly checked the system. The manager on duty sternly and rigidly informed us that we had only booked for one day and had to check out tomorrow, stating there was no information about an extended stay. It was quite embarrassing and frustrating, so we immediately tried to re-book an extension in the lobby. The hotel refused to process the extension and, in front of us, the front desk manager refused to answer calls from Ctrip customer service. At 12:48 AM, a Ctrip customer service representative used my phone to try and negotiate with the front desk manager, but to no avail. Our request was simple: to extend our stay in the original rooms without changing. Ctrip customer service was very helpful, informing us they would email the hotel's housekeeping department by 9:00 AM the next day, explaining our need to extend in the same rooms. At 10:00 AM the next morning, hotel housekeeping woke up our entire family, asking us to check out. We informed them of our request to extend in the original rooms, and after that, the hotel didn't contact us again. We are extremely grateful for Ctrip customer service's excellent assistance in the middle of the night. Despite the cold, rigid, and unyielding attitude of the hotel's front desk manager, Ctrip actively advocated for our rights, and for that, we are very thankful!
