"We stayed for a wedding, perfect location next to the station. Standout was the receptionist - super friendly and helpful, took our bags ahead of checking and allowed us to use the facilities to change for the wedding. Would recommend."

"There seemed to be a lack of staff working when we arrived and it appeared to be one person doing everything, checking in, collecting our missing bedding, taking payments at the till / ‘shop’. She was working really hard. The rooms were clean and tidy lots of space for our family of four. Beds were comfortable. We went with our friends as a stop to chessington world of adventure, the £5 parking fee was not disclosed anywhere when booking. Today 14/04/2026 our friends received a parking fine of £100 even though they paid the parking fee. However this was dealt with quickly."

"New Year's Eve Party We booked an overnight stay at the #Aviator to celebrate New Year's Eve. We were upgraded to an airside view room with breathtaking views of the runway. The room was airy and big. We requested a fridge in our room and a carafe of water which was supplied to us. The room had a powerful rain shower which was so needed after hours of dancing! The bed was comfy and the TV was super easy to use We did not avail breakfast this time but did go to the excellent sky bar for some yummy cocktails! Room came with iron, hairdryer, safe, USB sockets, tra and coffee facilities (cafetiere coffee) with option to request fresh milk. We will certainly be back!"

"The hotel do not make it clear that you have to pay for the swimming pool each time you use it. When you have children who are expecting to swim, this is simply not good enough. When booking it clearly says there are leisure facilities, including a swimming pool. It was only when checking in that we were told you had to pay £5 per person! We booked a ‘golf view’ room. When we arrived in the room there was a view of a bush, tree and bins with golf buggies in the distance come the morning, hardly a golf view in our opinion. Very disappointed children who were excited to be able to see a fairway! Breakfast was massively understaffed. The two staff members working were working very hard but with a full hotel, there should have been more staff working. It took far too long for glasses to be topped up to use for juice and the pastries ran out and were not replaced in time for us to eat. All staff members were lovely and worked hard but I feel management need to act upon previous reviews. We were told that the golf view issue was historical and an issue with Trip and how they advertise but if this was the case, why had nothing been done to address it? We were offered a drinks voucher as compensation but we refused as we had already purchased our non-alcoholic drinks for the evening. Perhaps not the best offer for a family! We asked if we could have our swim paid for instead and were told no because the leisure facilities were separate to the hotel??"

"Pleasant room. Only stayed for 8 hours in total, so did not use any of the hotel amenities. Decor is looking a little worn but far from outdated and dilapidated. Bedroom was a fair size and tidy. Tea/coffee supplies, bottled water, hairdryer, iron, soap/shampoo/shower gel. The only thing thing letting the stay down was the bed. The frame felt a little unstable and the mattress felt very ‘bouncy’ and cheap. I still managed to sleep ok but I have slept in much more comfortable beds at basic hotels. Overall, for the amount I paid, it was well worth the stay."

"Overall good hotel and experience. Only thing to consider is my room was directly over a pub and all the conversations could be heard from the room. It wasn’t a problem as people left early with my stay being on a Monday but could be an issue on weekends"

"We had an amazing time at Old Thorns Hotel & Resort celebrating my fiancé’s birthday weekend. The whole place is beautiful, the décor is stunning, with lovely pictures throughout that make it feel both homely and luxurious at the same time. The spa facilities and gym were excellent, and the young guy at the bar was especially friendly and made us some great drinks. The rooms were spacious, the showers were fantastic, and the golf course was beautiful and very well maintained. The only area I think could use a little improvement is the breakfast selection. There were fruits, bread, yoghurt, eggs, and the usual items for an English breakfast, but after staying more than one night, it would have been nice to have more variety such as pancakes or other breakfast options to switch things up a bit. I also paid extra for the birthday package. While I wasn’t expecting anything extravagant, it did feel a little misleading for the £15 charge, as it mainly included balloons, a very small teddy bear, some chocolates, and a card, which was exactly what was shown in the pictures. Other than that, everything was perfect and we had a wonderful stay."

"Spacious room, comfortable bed, good value for money, good buffet breakfast, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, yogurts...etc. Some fruit, there could be more variety, but in summary it was good. Parking is paid."

"The staff were really friendly. We parked in the adjacent shopping center's car park. The front desk validated our parking ticket for the first day free, and it was only £2 a day after that, which is incredibly cheap. The only downside is that it's a bit of a roundabout walk from the car park back to the hotel through the shopping center upstairs. If you have luggage, it's actually quicker to just walk along the car lane directly to the hotel."
