Set within a single location, River Story quietly observes the continuous changing of the seasons and the dichotomy of human presence in a natural environment, along a winding river. It contemplates our desire to reconnect with the natural spaces and life that surrounds us, after centuries of pursuing the ideology of a ‘dominion over nature’. Our movements are tentative and uncertain, yet slowly we embrace the unity we need to survive. River Story is an important body of visual work for our time. Having formed collaboration with the environmental charities: Friends of the Earth, Sussex Wildlife Trust, Pesticide Action Network and The Ouse and Adur Rivers Trust, Benjamin aims to inspire a deeper connection between people and the natural world by facilitating conversations around our relationship to nature, and the environmental challenges we face. This in-person event offers a unique opportunity to connect with the artist and environmental charities. Don't miss out on this exclusive chance to experience the magic of River Story. See you there! Lauren Joy Kennett, Sorry I’m Not Sorry, designed by Jane & Jeremy Following the solo exhibition of Sorry I’m Not Sorry, Lauren Joy Kennet (LJK) and Photoworks are proud to launch the artist’s first photobook. Sorry Iʼm Not Sorry explores LJK’s experience of living with undiagnosed autism. Through autobiographical and archive photography, Lauren Joy Kennett uses cutting and collaging techniques to explore self-discovery, and confrontation of life’s traumas and experiences that have shaped her existence. The work was commissioned as part of Explorers, a national creative programme to increase the visibility and representation of neurodivergent artists in contemporary visual arts, led by Project Art Works with Photoworks and cultural partners nationwide. Alongside LJK's inaugural publication, Jane and Jeremy are also launching their second book with Cole Flynn Quirke (CFQ). House of the Stray Dog is the latest visual odyssey shot in the two years following his autobiographical study of youth and nostalgia, Even a Maniac Can Learn to Drive. Stray Dog departs from the scrapbook-like schoolboy methodology of his earlier projects, instead oscillating around a series of intricately woven visual motifs whose gravitational pull intensifies with each turn of the page. The images presented constitute a heady cocktail of the natural and the human-formed, marking an egress from the street-pounding adolescent urbanity around which Maniac centred. CFQ strings together a series of photographic offerings that weave a visual narrative around the bittersweetness of self-realisation and the solitude of adulthood. The photobook launch is the first chance to view these exciting new publications and meet the artists and book designers. Information Source: Photoworks | eventbrite
