Nepali New Year in Nepal | Namarjung
Celebration
The first day of the year coincides with the first day of the Hindu month of Baisah, usually corresponding to April 13th or 14th in the Gregorian calendar. The Bikram calendar is primarily used in Nepal and India, but it is also used in other countries such as Sri Lanka (where the Tamil New Year is April 14th), Indonesia, Bangladesh, Thailand, Malaysia, and Bhutan. Similar to the traditions of New Year's Day, Bikram Sambat celebrations include parties, family gatherings, exchanging good wishes, and participating in various rituals to ensure good fortune in the coming year.
