Arts Dance
Conducted by our Artistic Director, Janek Schergen will explore a wide spectrum of dance topics which will enable individuals gain a greater insight into the world of dance. From something as detailed as the little rituals that dancers perform before they go onstage, to the creative process a choreographer undergoes to create a new work, the audience can expect to enhance their knowledge of dance and also watch our dancers up-close and personal as they perform excerpts from our main performance seasons. Terpsichore, the Goddess of Dance In ancient legend, each of the fine arts had a goddess who represented them. Terpsichore was the goddess of dance and has been presented in several ideals in all forms of dance, from traditional cultural dance to the formalities of ballet. Ballet has a tradition that goes all the way back to the French count of Louis IVX, who envisioned himself as the Sun King and staged elaborate pageants and ballets to depict the higher nature of music, movement and performance. We have advanced a long way since then but the spectacle of dance performance has the same ideal in which it is to bring something to life that is both ideal and memorable. LA Comedy Live Presents: Takashi Wakasugi – Live in Singapore Takashi Wakasugi: Comedy Samurai Japanese comedian Takashi comes to Singapore to be a Comedy Samurai! LA Comedy Live is proud to present the award-winning, razor-sharp wit of Japanese comedy sensation Takashi Wakasugi, live in Singapore on September 13, 2025 (Saturday) at Ola Ola Restaurant & Bar. Winner of the Directors' Choice Award at the 2023 Melbourne International Comedy Festival and nominated for the 2024 Most Outstanding Show, Takashi is one of the most exciting voices in international stand-up today. As seen on Taskmaster Australia, Thank God You’re Here, Comedy Up Late, and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala, his deadpan delivery and sly charm have won audiences worldwide. Takashi sees stand-up like a samurai sees combat—solitary, disciplined, and precise. Each joke is a stroke of the sword. The stage is his battlefield, where humour is sharp, timing is everything, and silence is part of the rhythm. Sensitive and absurd, minimalist and moving, Takashi turns gratitude, suffering, and social awkwardness into pure comedy gold. Join us for a night of finely tuned, quietly explosive stand-up that’s as smart as it is unpredictable. Don’t miss a single stroke. Review Highlights: ★ ★ ★ ★ “Exquisite stand-up.” – Chortle (UK) ★ ★ ★ ★ “Abundant pleasure… it’s a genuine joy to be insulted by him.” – The Scotsman ★ ★ ★ ★ “Funny, clever and insightful.” – ArtsHub Information Source: LA Comedy Live | eventbrite
