Featured Events in Brussels in 2026 (July Updated)

Every two years, the Grand Place in Brussels is covered with a carpet of begonias. This 70m x 24m carpet is created by approximately 120 volunteers using nearly one million flowers in less than four hours. This year's event aims to promote dialogue between Belgium and Japan to commemorate the 160th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Inspired by Katsushika Hokusai's "The Great Wave off Kanagawa," the design was recreated by Japanese artist Hiroshi Sugiyama and his art collective "Keimon" using over 500,000 dahlias. Another important new feature is that the exchange will feature a second carpet for the first time, inspired by hops—a symbol of Belgian brewing tradition.

Through his most important works,De Queeste, YasminaandWeegee, you will be introduced to Mannaert's artistic universe in all its richness. The exhibition highlights the artist's range of themes and graphic approaches, offering an immersion into the heart of his unique and poetic worldview.

Hosted by the Terpstra family and Farm & Food Care Ontario, this event offers a unique opportunity for kids and adults alike to explore the exciting world of modern agriculture. Meet your hosts: The Terpstra family runs Cranbrook Farms near Brussels, where they milk 400 Holstein dairy cows in a newly built barn with a rotary parlour milking system. Today, the second and third generations work side by side, continuing a family tradition while looking ahead. After a devastating barn fire in June 2023, the family rebuilt with the support of their community, adding new technology and equipment to support the growth of their farm for future generations. Like many farmers, they are proud to welcome guests onto their farm on July 25 to see firsthand what it takes to produce high-quality food and to connect with the people who care for the land, crops, and animals every day. Get up close with farm animals See tractors and farm equipment in action Explore interactive games and exhibits about where your food comes from Meet and chat with local farmers and learn about life on the farm Whether you’re a lifelong farm fan or visiting for the first time, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Each ticket includes one (1) breakfast sandwich and milk. Children are free but still require an entry ticket.
