Lights of Dreams Festival | Echo Park Lake
Jul 12, 2025 (UTC-7)
City of Los Angeles
The
44th Los Angeles Lotus Festival
celebrates the people and cultures of The Republic of Korea.
Jinju Namgang Yudeung, also known as the Jinju Lantern Festival, is the tradition of floating lanterns on the Namgang River. This dates back to the 1500's when the people of Jinju would light lanterns wishing for a safe return of their family memebers during the Japanese invasion. Today the festival continues in memory of those soldiers who died serving their country. They aslo symbolize hope and unity, and how the Korean people overcome adversity during the war.
The Lights of Dream Festival is our adaptationof the Korean Jinju Lantern Festival, and features beautiful rice paper lanterns and custom-made lotus lanterns. In Asian cultures, illuminated paper lanterns symbolize our hope for a brighter future, appreciation for our loved ones, and memories of those who passed away; while lotus lanterns represent rebirth, purity and life.
Throughout our event; we hope to create an incredible experience that brings families and friends together to celebrate the meaning of life and spread hope, peace and dreams.

The Beatles' "Revolver" live & complete + best of Badfinger. 3:00p NEW DATE | Grammy Museum L.A. Live
Aug 2, 2025 (UTC-7)
City of Los Angeles
The Beatles' "Revolver" live and complete.
"A veritable goldmine…”—Melody Maker, July 30, 1966
"This is a brilliant album which underlines once and for all that the Beatles have definitely broken the bounds of what we used to call pop."--NME, July 29, 1966
"The best album the Beatles ever made, which means the best album by anybody" --Rolling Stone Album Guide, 2005
"They introduce whole new vistas of sound”--London Daily Telegraph, September 7, 2009
“The Greatest Album in History”--VH1, 2001
Named by just about everyone as one of the greatest-if not THE GREATEST-albums ever made, Keith Putney Productions continues its series of Beatles album shows with Revolver live and complete, plus the best of Badfinger as we celebrate Joey Molland. John Jorgenson, Jeff Alan Ross, Laurence Juber and more return to present the unforgettable album that grows in stature with every passing year.
Entertainment Weekly named in #1 in their 2013 list of “All Time Greatest Albums”, Q magazine named it number one on their list of the “50 Greatest British Albums Ever”, and Collin Larkin ranked it first in his 1994 book “All Time Top 1000 Albums”.
The breadth and depth of Revolver’s musical mix eclipses the greatest hits of any recording artists save the Beatles themselves. Taxman, Eleanor Rigby, I’m Only Sleeping, Love You To, Here, There and Everywhere, Yellow Submarine, She Said She Said, Good Day Sunshine, And Your Bird Can Sing, For No One, Doctor Robert, I Want To Tell You, Got to Get You Into My Life, and Tomorrow Never Knows make up the complete list.

CCDET I: Clean Truck Check | Los Angeles Trade-Tech College - LATTC
Jul 11, 2025 (UTC-7)
City of Los Angeles
You need CCDET I if you perform:
OBD Testing or SAE J1667 Snap Acceleration Testing and would like hands-on in-person instruction.
This 6-hour course covers the requirements of the California Air Resources Board’s Clean Truck Check regulation, formerly known as Heavy-Duty Inspection and Maintenance (HD I/M). CARB’s Clean Truck Check curriculum and certification exam are available for free online.
This CCDET I: Clean Truck Check course was developed for those who prefer in-person instruction and who would like hands-on instruction in performing the SAE J1667 Snap Acceleration Smoke Test and Onboard Diagnostic Testing. The CCDET I version of Clean Truck check is not free. This in-person class costs $175 and is administered by the California Council on Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET), not directly by CARB.
It is important to note that CARB remains the only credentialing entity for Clean Truck Check. Participants who complete this CCDET I course must still take and pass CARB’s online exam to become Credentialed Testers under the regulation.

We think the best relationships are forged when we are comfortable, relaxed and free of pressure. Preferring instead to think of the evening as a casual night out where one can truly be themselves. We do not use traditional 'speed dating' offerings such as bells, whistles and name-tags. Instead we focus on creating an atmosphere conducive to meeting others; a great venue, a personable host and a staff to assist.
Upon registration, you'll be sent an email inviting you to login to your mobile ‘Smart-Card’. As the event begins, log-in to your scorecard and let the flirting begin. Once the clock strikes midnight - return to our platform to see your matches. You can also access your profile via mobile, tablet or PC. Our platform isn't an app so it requires absolutely no downloading and can be accessed directly from our website, anytime.
Should you have any questions - feel free to ask away. Take the time before the event starts to settle in - have a beverage if you would like and mingle should you wish. Chat up our Hosts for tips or simply to ask, which direction the bar is in! After being shown to your table, the ladies will remain seated for the duration of the event. The gents move from lovely lady to lovely lady every six to seven minutes. Your mobile scorecard gives you the ability to see all the participants attending your event, upload your picture, make your selections and be notified of your matches all from your phone.
Don't fret about figuring out if the person is the one or the perfect person for you. Consider it the date before the date. If you choose someone and they chose you - it's a match. You will be given each others first name and email address. The rest is up to you.

Films of Les Blank & Maureen Gosling: HOT PEPPER, DEL MERO CORAZÓN + more! | Philosophical Research Society
Jul 12, 2025 (UTC-7)
City of Los Angeles
As part of their July series "US Tour," 7th House is proud to present a program of vibrant, humane, and intimate collaborations by legendary independent documentarians
Les Blank
and
Maureen Gosling
, featuring
HOT PEPPER
(1973),
DEL MERO CORAZÓN
(1979), and
SPROUT WINGS AND FLY
(1983). For this very evening, we are so honored to welcome
Maureen Gosling
in person
for an in depth and fascinating conversation led by author and filmmaker
Jessica Hundley
!
An uncompromisingly independent filmmaker who was among American cinema’s most singular and prolific figures, Les Blank made documentaries for nearly fifty years, elegantly disappearing with his camera into cultural spots rarely seen on-screen—mostly on the peripheries of the United States. Seemingly off-the-cuff yet poetically constructed, these endearingly idiosyncratic films are humane, sometimes wry, always engaging tributes to music, food, and all sorts of regionally specific delights.
Fresh from University of Michigan, Maureen Gosling began her forty plus year filmmaking career in 1972 as an apprentice to Blank during the filming of
HOT PEPPER,
a portrait of renowned Cajun zydeco king Clifton Chenier (who would've been 100 this year!) , on which she worked as a sound recordist. So began a rich two decade long creative collaboration which saw Gosling go from recording sound, to assistant editing, to editing the films from scratch, to co-directing — sometimes taking lead on their projects together (Gosling is credited as director and editor of
DEL MERO CORAZÓN
, for instance – with Blank credited for “additional direction and special editing”).
This evening, we are excited to welcome Maureen for a program of wonderful films which span her and Blank’s filmography together:
OUT IN THE WOODS
(1972/2016, 13 mins)
Maureen’s second project with Les was working as sound recordist and assistant editor on
A POEM IS A NAKED PERSON
– the long unreleased portrait of Leon Russell that was Blank’s first feature length film (and which he considered his masterpiece). Blank and his team spent two years making the film, living for much of that time in northeastern Oklahoma, where Leon Russell was building a new recording studio. During that period, Gosling shot her own Super 8 footage, a portion of which is presented here, accompanied by text from letters home to her parents.
SPROUT WINGS AND FLY
(1983, 30 mins)
This touching tribute to Appalachian culture profiles legendary, old-time fiddler Tommy Jarrell, filmed in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. His unpretentious folk wisdom is interlaced with family scenes and reminiscences, plus plenty of old-time music.
DEL MERO CORAZON
(1979, 29 mins)
A lyrical journey through the heart of Chicano culture as reflected in the love songs of the Tex-Mex Norteña music tradition. Performers include, Little Joe & La Familia, Leo Garza, Chavela Ortiz, Andres Berlanga, Ricardo Mejia, Conjunto Tamaulipas, Chavela y Brown Express and more.
HOT PEPPER
(1973, 54 mins)
An energetic portrait of the Grammy-winning Creole musician Clifton Chenier, a.k.a. the King of Zydeco. HOT PEPPER brings viewers into the Louisiana juke joints where Chenier plays his unique music, which synthesizes the pulsating rhythms of traditional Cajun dance tunes with African-inflected percussion and bluesy R&B into an irresistible mélange mixed up in the sweaty juke joints of South Louisiana. Chenier’s accordion-driven rhythms and sophisticated melodies are unforgettably catchy, and Les Blank beautifully captures the music’s propulsive, foot-tapping joy on film.
(Digital presentations)
Join us for this very special evening of jubilant film and fascinating conversation!
Special thanks to Harrod Blank.
Special thanks to Brian Belavorac of Janus Films.
