Celebrate National Grandparent's Day as a family with us at Carlton Marshes. We will be doing a variety of natural art activities in our woodland, den building and enjoying pancakes cooked over a campfire as well as some other breakfast treats. Basic bike control lessons for young children. Get tips and hints from our instructors to bypass stabilisers and gain confidence quickly to carry on after the session. Children can bring their own bike or ride our balance bikes and/or bikes. Please remove stabilisers before attending the session. Children do not need to be able to ride prior to the course. • Participants are required to bring an energy packed snack and no fizzy drinks • Required medication must accompany the participant In the past parents have brought along their babies and toddlers, this has proved to be unsuitable as you will need to give your child your undivided 1:1 attention to get the most out of the session . Join local ceramic artist Margaret Parsons for this fun, relaxed and creative workshop to sculpt a clay pumpkin. With help and guidance from Margaret, you will have a go at sketching some designs on paper before sculpting your design using clay. There will be real pumpkins available to give you inspiration.  Your pieces will need to be taken away to be fired so you will need to collect your work from the visitor centre around 2 weeks afterwards. Margaret will give you options of how you would like your designs finished.  Margaret will have examples of her work and discuss how best to work with clay. You can see some of Margaret's work on her website.   This workshop is designed for beginners or budding artists who enjoy getting creative with nature as the inspiration.  The workshop is suitable for adults and children aged 8+. All children must be supervised by an adult.  The workshop will include a lunch break where you can purchase lunch from the cafe or bring your own packed lunch. The majority of the workshop will be held inside but you may feel inspired to take a small walk around the reserve. Margaret will provide: sketch paper and pencils, clay and clay implements.
