The Women's Specific Clinic, known as Women's 102 A Solid Base [3hrs]: MTB Skills with Huck It, is an essential learning experience for riders looking to enhance their mountain biking abilities. The clinic covers a range of topics including vertical range of motion, passive vs active movement, bike angulation, and bike-body separation. By understanding the importance of body position and utilizing their full range of movement, riders can greatly impact their traction, control, and energy conservation. This clinic is designed for intermediate riders who are eager to push themselves to more advanced terrains. However, it is also suitable for beginners who are looking to develop their foundational skills. Traction and control are emphasized in order to achieve a seamless flow down the trail. Each participant can choose the level of challenge that suits them best. It is important to note that beginner participants should be able to confidently ride up and down green trails without stopping or putting a foot on the ground. This clinic is not intended for first-time riders. While the course primarily caters to adults, accompanied children aged 12-15 are welcome, as long as their parent agrees to treat the clinic as an adult-only session. Focus on maintaining traction and control to achieve a seamless flow down the trail, while still having the freedom to choose the level of difficulty that suits you. Please note that beginner participants should be able to ride green trails without stopping or putting a foot on the ground. This clinic is not suitable for first-time riders. It is essential to be present from the start of the session for a safety briefing. Arriving at least 15 minutes early is recommended to ensure you and your bike are prepared. Join the Stitch & Yarn monthly group at Gallery 1855 in Tea Tree Gully for the March session. This group offers a unique opportunity to cultivate creativity and togetherness while learning the art of embroidery. Led by the talented community and textile artist Michelle Jahn, participants will learn to embroider on a variety of captivating photographs that hold personal meaning. By using a range of embroidery techniques and colorful threads, old holiday or themed photos can be transformed and given new life. The Stitch & Yarn dates for this session are set for March 16th, with more dates to be announced. Additionally, participants have the optional opportunity to share their photographic stories with other creatives and prepare their embroideries for a future exhibition at Gallery 1855 in mid-2025. This exhibition will showcase the creative outcomes of months of dedicated stitching. It is important to note that participation in the group and exhibition is free, and no previous experience is required. The Stitch & Yarn sessions are suitable for individuals aged 16 and older. While thread and yarn are provided, participants are welcome to bring their own materials if desired. The only thing required from participants is their original photos or copies of old photos, with heavy paper recommended for copies. Michelle Jahn, the facilitator of the group, brings a wealth of experience in fabric design and a passion for helping others realize their creative potential. Join ceramic artist Simone Linder-Patton at Gallery 1855 in Tea Tree Gully for an exciting workshop on creating beautiful ceramic pocket-sized wall planters. Simone will guide participants in the use of soft clay slabs to form original shapes and unique textured patterns. The planters will be glazed to emphasize the textured markings and then fired, ready for collection approximately four weeks after the workshop on March 17, 2024. These ready-to-hang creations will add a touch of elegance to any home decor. The workshop is suitable for beginners and above, aged 16 years and over. While ideas for shapes and patterns are helpful, they are not necessary, as Simone will provide all materials and tools needed.
