Hall May 30th - Driftwood Music has guided Driftwood to hallowed ground many times since its founding members, Joe Kollar and Dan Forsyth, started making music as high schoolers in Joe’s parents’ basement. Whether the Upstate New York folk rock group—which today also includes violinist Claire Byrne, bassist Joey Arcuri, and drummer Sam Fishman—are converting new fans on a hardscrabble tour across the country or playing to a devoted crowd at hero Levon Helm’s Woodstock barn, the band’s shapeshifting approach to folk music continues to break new ground. “Driftwood is basically a beautiful friendship that happens to play music together,” says Joe. “I know it’s rare. September 27th- New Soft Shoe -Nine years ago on what local singer-songwriter Brent Kirby calls a drunken dare, a group of Cleveland friends and musicians showed up at the Happy Dog to play a couple sets of tunes by the late, great Gram Parsons. Dubbed the New Soft Shoe, the group has been at it ever since, spreading the gospel of what it refers to “Gram's Cosmic American Music.” Anything that Parsons played, the New Soft Shoe covers. As a result, the group plays tunes from the International Submarine Band, the Byrds and Flying Burrito Brothers. It also plays songs from Parsons solo records GP and Grievous Angel. The band has performed at the Gram Parsons Guitar Pull in Waycross, GA, and at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame here in Cleveland. Auction: The spacious Key Peninsula Center will be filled with over 40 pieces of Beverly Bier-Pedersen’s artwork. Beverly loved flowers, cats, fish, and birds, but undertook a wide variety of other subjects as well. She was known for her use of flamboyant colors. The artwork will be in all sizes and prices. Media used will include oils, acrylics, watercolors, dyed fabrics, giclee reproductions, as well as wearable art in silk and cotton, note cards, and art tiles. Previews of most of the work is available on the web at https://sites.google.com/view/beverly-pedersen-art Pieces may be purchased immediately for a ‘quick sale’ price or bid on by silent auction, with all auctions closed by the end of the day and all sales final.
