Walter PricePearl Lines | Los Angeles
Nov 16, 2024–Feb 1, 2025 (UTC-8)ENDED
Los Angeles
David Zwirner is pleased to present Pearl Lines, the gallery’s first exhibition with Brooklyn-based artist Walter Price (b. 1989) since the announcement of his representation earlier this year. Price is known for his richly vibrant paintings and drawings, which bypass strict allegiances to representational or abstract modes. His canvases and works on paper not only experiment freely with color, line, and space, but also reveal emphatic shifts in perspective, suggesting scenes and imagery that the artist ultimately leaves for viewers to absorb and contemplate on their own.
MOCA Focus: Ana Segovia | The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles
Nov 23, 2024–May 4, 2025 (UTC-8)ENDED
Los Angeles
In his luscious paintings, Ana Segovia (b. 1991, Mexico City, where he lives) twists assumptions of masculinity through a queer lens. Working with an aggressive palette of neon colors, daring compositions, and cinematographic framing and cropping, Segovia undermines the gendered basis of Mexican national identity built around male stereotypes standardized by film.
The artist often develops specific display strategies for his paintings, borrowing from the language of installation, theater, dance, and video art to effectively situate them in the exhibition space. MOCA Focus: Ana Segovia will feature a new painting commissioned for the exhibition plus two recent bodies of work, including I’ve Been Meaning to Tell You (2023), a suite of eight paintings depicting film stills from a non-existent queer film the artist wished to have seen in his formative years.
Ordinary People: Photorealism and Art Since 1968 | The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA
Nov 23, 2024–May 4, 2025 (UTC-8)ENDED
Los Angeles
The exhibition aims to show the evolution of the Photorealism movement in the 1970s and further explore works related to Photorealism today, presenting works by figurative painters such as Gina Beavers and Serge Gomez.
Differentiating: Uncommon Materials, Markings and Matrixes | Hammer Museum
Dec 21, 2024–Apr 6, 2025 (UTC-8)ENDED
Los Angeles
Many artists pour blood, sweat and tears – and other unusual substances and materials – into their work. The exhibition, which draws primarily from the Grunwald Center for the Fine Arts’ collection, examines the motivations behind artists’ choice of “unorthodox” media such as blood, smoke, coffee, scrap metal, vegetable juice, pins, dryer sheets, cotton lint and more.

Lola Kirke discusses Wild West Village | Book Soup
Feb 1, 2025 (UTC-8)ENDED
West Hollywood
In this darkly humorous memoir-in-essays, actress and singer-songwriter Lola Kirke untangles an extraordinary upbringing in a family of eccentric, messy artists and explains how a big city girl went a little bit country.
The youngest daughter of a rock star father and clothing designer mother, Lola and her siblings (including actress Jemima and celebrity doula Domino), spent their childhoods freshly plucked from their English heritage in an eclectic West Village brownstone, hosting everyone from Cuban exiles to Courtney Love. But behind the enviable exterior of worldly coolness, was a home in disarray.
In Wild West Village, Kirke chronicles a search for self amidst the chaos of the affairs, addictions, and afflictions surrounding her, detailing misadventures in everything from masturbation to marijuana, Cadbury’s to country music, and a dream of salvation on the silver screen.
Filled with unforgettable characters and insights into identities forged in fire, Wild West Village locates humor and lightness in life’s darker situations. Irreverent and high-spirited, these are the stories of a young woman, teetering between a twang and a British accent, trying to fit in with larger-than-life personalities while secretly coming into her own. About the authorLola Kirke is an acclaimed actress (Mistress America, Gone Girl, and Mozart in the Jungle) and singer-songwriter. Wild West Village is her first book.

Sensory Friendly Programming Session | Lancaster Museum of Art and History
Feb 1, 2025 (UTC-8)ENDED
Lancaster
MOAH’s sensory-friendly programming boasts an array of resources and services for neurodivergent guests before and during the museum experience. Beginning with the social narrative, which is available on MOAH’s website, guests can read a first-person description of a trip to MOAH, with important details regarding parking, entrance/exit points, restrooms, and how to access on-site sensory-friendly resources. Guests can attend special open hours, which occur before the museum opens to the public. During these special open hours, the lighting in the museum is dimmed and the audio components of artworks are lowered. Upon arrival at the museum, guests are offered a sensory-friendly programming map, which pin-points changes in light and noise, along with the exact locations of hands-on sensory-friendly programming activities. Guests with hyper/hypo-sensitivities also have access to a take-a-break space on the bottom level of the museum. This room is sectioned off from main walkways and contains calming tools and water within a quiet, dimly lit space. Speech cards, in both Spanish and English, are available at the guest services desk to assist non-verbal visitors. Optional sensory-friendly programming activities include the multi-sensory tour and a hands-on art activity. The multi-sensory tour is a self-guided tour with stations throughout the museum. Each station focuses on a single work of art and includes an object or objects that can be used to enhance the viewer’s sensory experience of the artwork. Tour “stations” allow guests to engage with staff members and multi-sensory items on a volunteer basis. The voluntary, hands-on art activity, offered in the MOAH classroom, is designed to adapt to hyper- and hypo-sensitivities, as well as multiple age groups and abilities. In many cases, the finished art project doubles as a fidget or calming tool that can be used while exploring the museum.
