(be)longing Workshop: Where I Belong | Bethlem Gallery
Nov 16, 2024 (UTC+0)ENDED
Beckenham
Join artist Keith Clapson in this collaborative painting session exploring how we navigate where we belong in relation to others. We will be working together as a group, using techniques of splashing, dripping and squeezing paint to create a large-scale painting that represents both parts of ourselves and our collective identity. The session is a chance to create freely and playfully, with no judgements. Keith Clapson is a working ceramics artist. He studied on the Citylit Foundation in Art and Design and Citylit Ceramics Diploma. Keith currently works from a shared studio in London and is a volunteer and mentor at ADRU, The Anxiety Disorders Residential Unit at Bethlem Hospital, where Keith was an inpatient for four months in 2017. Keith teaches art classes with ADRU onsite and has also run classes with the site's forensic ward. Keith is a Bethlem Gallery artist and part of the Gallery's Collection Advisory Board. Keith says: “Art is my medicine, and I like to share my experiences of supporting my mental health through art for recovery.” This session is part of (be)longing, a Bethlem Gallery project supporting artist Daniel Regan to explore the theme of belonging in the lead up to his solo exhibition at the gallery in spring 2026.
