A Symphony of Lights | Victoria Harbour
ENDED
Hong Kong
A Symphony of Lights is a laser light and music show in Hong Kong. It is completed by a total of 47 skyscrapers and landmark buildings located on both sides of Victoria Harbour on both sides of Hong Kong Island and Kowloon Peninsula. It is a large-scale light and music show in the world. Every night at 8 o'clock, you can see the urban buildings on both sides of the Victoria Harbour turn into a stage with sound and light intertwined in the neon lights and music, showing the splendid night of Hong Kong. The magical lights emitted by each building illuminate the sky over the Victoria Harbour, supplemented by music and narration, dreamy, gorgeous and impactful, allowing you to have a deeper understanding of the beauty of Hong Kong. The sound and light show starts at 8 o'clock every night and lasts about 13 minutes. During these 13 minutes, you can watch the performance for free on both sides of Victoria Harbour. The best viewing spots are from the Avenue of Stars to the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront outside the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, the waterfront promenade of the Golden Bauhinia Square in Wan Chai or the sightseeing ferry from Victoria Harbour. In Tsim Sha Tsui Waterfront Garden and the Golden Bauhinia Square waterfront promenade, you can hear the music and narration of The Symphony of Lights. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, it is played next to English, and on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, it is Mandarin narration. Play Cantonese. The regular performance on weekdays usually has five segments. You can watch the gradient effect of colored lights on the facade of the building, the dancing of lasers and searchlights in the dark night, and the kaleidoscope-like rotating light pattern, which is colorful. If you choose the "Symphony of Lights on the Hong Kong" Victoria Harbour tour, you can enjoy two birds with one stone while you are on a luxury sightseeing cruise, enjoying the night view on both sides of the Victoria Harbour and enjoying a sound and light show on the water. If you want to take the ferry, please visit: http://www.discoverhongkong.com/china/see-do/tours-walks/guided-tours/victoria-harbour/SOL-harbour-cruise.jsp#tour2 booking. Note that there is an additional fee for the sightseeing boat, which is HKD 180 for adults, HKD 162 for children aged 3-12 and seniors over 65 years old. It is recommended to choose to watch the performance from the seaside of Tsim Sha Tsui. You can see most of Hong Kong's landmark buildings on Hong Kong Island, such as Bank of China Building, HSBC Bank, International Finance Center and other landmarks. With these buildings as the background, you will feel the performance more spectacular. Located on this stretch of coastline, the waterfront observation deck next to the Clock Tower and Star Ferry Pier is a great place to watch the show. If you encounter special festivals, you can also see fireworks on the roof of the building and on the sea. Since the end of 2007, A Symphony of Lights has been expanded into a large-scale New Year's countdown event every year. Starting at 23:40 on December 31, a regular light show will be held first. In the 20 seconds before and after the New Year, the 420-meter-high Hong Kong The second phase of the International Finance Center will start the fireworks show. As the countdown counts down, fireworks on both sides of the building are set off layer by layer, accompanied by flickering and shining laser searchlights. At zero o'clock just to welcome the new year, the seven-colored fireworks of the building and the splendid fireworks of the 16 skyscrapers next to the harbour are set off at the same time. After the countdown, there will be a two-minute fireworks show, which is very beautiful and shocking.
A.A.Murakami: Floating World | M+
Aug 31, 2024–Feb 2, 2025 (UTC+8)ENDED
Hong Kong
Founded in 2011, Tokyo- and London-based A.A. Murakami is a duo of Alexander Groves (b. 1983) and Azusa Murakami (b. 1984). Working across a range of disciplines, including sculpture, installation, film and digital art, the duo creates spectacular scenes that take their science-based inquiry to the next level.
The exhibition features two immersive, interconnected installations that offer an otherworldly experience: in the first, rings of fog travel through space into the digital realm; in the second, clouds of floating bubbles drift overhead. Using ephemeral materials and innovative use of specially developed technology, these two large-scale installations inspire viewers to philosophically ponder the nature of reality and artificial constructions, and question the growing importance of digital life in today's society. The exhibition will expand on the concept of "ephemeral technology" pioneered by the duo, using innovative technological research to reimagine the beginning of everything while envisioning possible future scenarios.

Bank of China (Hong Kong) Presents: The Origins of Chinese Civilisation | Hong Kong Palace Museum
Sep 25, 2024–Feb 7, 2025 (UTC+8)ENDED
Hong Kong
Chinese civilisation is ancient, profound, and enduring, standing as the the world's longest continuous civilisation. In 2002, the country launched the “Project to Trace the Origins of Chinese Civilisation” (the Project), which has yielded remarkable results over the past two decades, mapping out the historical trajectory of the origins of Chinese civilisation. The Project, through archaeological surveys and studies, has showcased the tangible continuity of the civilisation and the diversity of its origins. It reveals how different regions and cultures interacted with one another, and eventually merged into a cohesive whole, forming the “diversity in unity” developmental pattern of the Chinese people.
This exhibition features the excavates of the Project as well as important archaeological discoveries in the centennial modern Chinese archaeology. Over one hundred exhibits come from fourteen archaeological institutions and museums in the Mainland and Hong Kong, covering nine archaeological cultures and nine major archaeological sites. It is one of the most comprehensive exhibitions in recent years dedicated to exploring the origins and achievements of Chinese civilisation.
The exhibition is jointly organised by the HKPM and Art Exhibitions China, and sponsored by Bank of China (Hong Kong), the Museum’s strategic partner.

CHILDREN OF THE DUST | Hong Kong
Oct 25, 2024–Feb 8, 2025 (UTC+8)ENDED
Hong Kong
This exhibition aims to create a quiet refuge where art is a temporary escape from the collective depression of the audience. Each work in the exhibition is made of natural materials, from minerals, dust, soil, to ice and fossils. In the exhibition, geological changes across a wide time dimension are juxtaposed with rapid and drastic social changes. Echoes from "deep time" soothe our fatigue in the daily hustle and bustle. The word "dust" in the title of the exhibition refers to the basic components of matter, and "sons of dust" comes from a well-known theory: the elements that make up the human body and matter come from supernova explosions. In other words, we, like the dust, ice and metal used in the works, are fragments of the vast history of the universe. We are all children of dust.

Ruth AsawaDoing Is Living | David Zwirner
Nov 19, 2024–Feb 22, 2025 (UTC+8)ENDED
Hong Kong
I study nature, and a lot of these forms come from observing plants. I really look at nature and I just do it as I see it. I draw something on paper. And then I am able to take a wire line and go into the air and define the air without stealing it from anyone. —Ruth Asawa . David Zwirner is pleased to announce an exhibition of sculptures and works on paper by American artist Ruth Asawa (1926–2013) at the gallery’s Hong Kong location. Relentlessly experimental across a range of mediums, Asawa is known for her works built on simple, repeated gestures that accumulate into complex compositions. The artist moved effortlessly between abstract and figurative registers in both two and three dimensions, creating a vast and varied oeuvre that, despite its visual heterogeneity, reflects above all her belief in the total integration of artistic practice and family life. The first solo presentation of Asawa’s work in Greater China, the exhibition provides an overview of the artist’s wide-ranging practice, focusing in particular on her affinity for the natural world, which in turn provided a constant source of inspiration in her art.
Scott KahnOnce in a Blue Moon | David Zwirner
Nov 19, 2024–Feb 22, 2025 (UTC+8)ENDED
Hong Kong
David Zwirner is pleased to present an exhibition by American artist Scott Kahn at the gallery’s Hong Kong location. Once in a Blue Moon will feature a body of new paintings that focuses on different types of full moons—with its myriad connotations—as their central compositional element. Also on view will be a selection of landscapes from throughout Kahn’s career, several of which include the moon, often glimpsed in the background, materializing as a sort of omen for the scene laid out beneath. Viewed together, these works exemplify the artist’s distinctive approach to the genre. This will be Kahn’s first solo presentation in Asia and his first with the gallery since his representation was announced in May 2024.
Rooted in his everyday life and experiences, Kahn’s enigmatic landscapes, portraits, and dreamscapes blend real and surreal elements. The artist has remained committed to a figurative mode of expression over the course of more than five decades, using a distinctive formal language to achieve a nuanced and poetic rendition of the simultaneous splendor and mundanity of the world around him. His surfaces are meticulously constructed according to precise geometries and chromatic and spatial relationships, wherein the artist employs perspective and light to establish an illusory sense of depth that underscores the resonances imparted by the recurring cast of people, places, and symbols. Kahn’s works evidence his individual point of view while opening out onto universal themes, offering viewers a conduit through which to access a wide range of emotions.
