To coincide with the Doll Festival, symbolizing the arrival of spring, we will be exhibiting Hina dolls passed down through the Owari Tokugawa family from the Edo period to the present day. The Yu-style Hina dolls owned by Edo-era princesses, along with exquisite Hina doll accessories—miniature wedding items—are elegant works showcasing the status of a feudal lord family. Please enjoy this beautiful Hina doll exhibition, featuring Hina dolls belonging to three generations of concubines of the Owari Tokugawa family from the Meiji to Showa periods, as well as items brimming with spring joy. In addition, there are Yu-style Hina dolls dressed in formal attire, collected by Teitokuin Norihime, wife of the fourteenth head of the Owari Tokugawa family, Yoshikatsu.

In early spring, from late February to early April, plum blossoms, peach blossoms, and cherry blossoms bloom in Tokugawa Garden. The blooming flowers and various activities welcome visitors to witness the arrival of spring. Furthermore, Sunday, March 15th, is the founding day of Tokugawa Garden, and admission is free on that day. Tokugawa Garden is a traditional Japanese garden featuring a covered pond, a style commonly used in the gardens of feudal lords during the Edo period. Clear streams cascade down waterfalls from the valley, flowing into a pond resembling the sea, symbolically showcasing the natural scenery of Japan. In addition, Tokugawa Garden cleverly utilizes the undulating terrain and existing forests, and features a rockery made of massive stones, symbolizing the bravery and fearlessness of the samurai society. Throughout the year, you can enjoy lush greenery, vibrant autumn foliage, and blooming peonies and irises here.
