Another Another World | Jill Craigie Cinema, Roland Levinsky Building
May 27, 2025 (UTC+0)
Plymouth
Another Another World is a poetic reflection on the transformation of St Ives, Cornwall, over the past 70 years. Inspired by the 1950s documentary Another World, this film revisits the town’s legacy as a haven for artists and fishermen, capturing the evolving identity of a place once romanticised for its idyllic simplicity. Another Another World explores the cultural shifts that have shaped St Ives – from the counterculture movement of the 1960s to the rise of surf culture in the 1970s and 1980s, the impact of housing booms and rural poverty, the decline of traditional industries, and its eventual global recognition in the art world. The film culminates in the present day, observing those who continue to live and create in the town. Written and narrated by Danny Fox and directed by Jackson Whitefield, Another Another World is not a remake but a conversation with its predecessor, offering a contemporary meditation on place, memory and change. Director Jackson Whitefield presents the premiere of his film, Another Another World as part of Danny Fox's exhibition, Kingdom, in The Levinsky Gallery.

The Armada Dial | Plymouth
Nov 23, 2011–Dec 31, 2030 (UTC)
Plymouth
Created by artist and sculptor Carole Vincent the artwork features a large sundial design and fountain. The artwork was commissioned by Plymouth City Council as part of the pedestrianisation of the City Centre in 1987.
The work was officially launched on 22 July 1988 by Queen Elizabeth II and commemorates the ‘Armada 400’ celebrations in the city. (Image courtesy of Plymouth Herald image archive)
Cast in concrete with Terrazzo and stainless steel, the sundial also features 12 plinths around the outside. Information panels on top of the stone plinths offer in detail ways to ‘read’ the sundial in a range of different languages.
The information plinths were made a particular feature of in 2010 when they were covered with decorative textiles as part of ‘Mrs Smith’s hit on Plymouth sundial’ – a secret commission by Plymouth College of Art. Guerrilla textiles installed overnight to the surprise of the public!
The sundial is set to G.M.T which differs in the summer (B.S.T) by one hour in advance. The sun is also due south in Plymouth 17 minutes later than it is at Greenwich; therefore at some points of the year the dial runs 1 hour 17 minutes behind G.M.T.
About the Artist
Carole Vincent (1939-2019) was an artist working in concrete. She lived and worked in Boscastle, Cornwall. Painter as well as sculptor, she explored the use of natural colour and texture in concrete for sculpture. Her work with pigments achieved remarkable success, opening new doors to architects, engineers and planners. Her passion was to work on commissions for specific environments, ranging from public spaces to individual buildings and gardens.

The 80’s gave us so much...Saved by the Bell, Top Gun, Goonies, Bon Jovi and Die Hard. It’s
1989 and you are invited to THE New Years Eve party to end all parties.
Daniel and Ali seem to be the perfect couple and have invited friends and family to this
celebration, but no one is that perfect and will everyone at the party still be alive by the end or is there a Lethal Weapon in the room. Fancy dress is not obligatory but if you want to dress up the all is good with us, so will you be Robocop? Ferris Bueller? Madonna? The Ghostbusters?
The list is endless. We got away with a lot in the 80’s but will someone get away with murder?

The Knowing Body – Performance Art Event | Real Art Make Print at Ocean Studios
May 24, 2025 (UTC+1)
Plymouth
The Knowing Body
takes a journey through movement, art and music exploring our inner physical rhythms and responses to the body’s impulse to move. It also looks at what happens when we find ourselves instinctively moving to the same collective rhythm, creating large scale artworks, using different medium and parts of the body.
The Knowing Body
is an interdisciplinary performance art event performed by the Plymouth Performance Art Collective. This work in progress investigates how rhythm plays an integral part within our daily lives individually and collectively, through internal and external influence including instinct and ritual. Long scrolled art works transcribed through the participation and observation of contemporary and improvised movement and dance has been interpreted by the performers creating a wealth of individual and collective movement material. An enquiry into the rhythm of sound and music informs the performers exploring how it can initiate and inspire through play and improvisation creating large scale spontaneous drawings and paintings. There is also the opportunity for audience members to try their hand at some impromptu collective drawing!
Following the event the audience are invited to join an informal feedback discussion to meet the artists and find out more about the creative process. Feedback will be gratefully received, informing the future development of
The Knowing Body
.
The Knowing Bod
y is devised and directed by visual & dance artist Rosie Allen-Perdikeas. Rosie is currently an artist in residence at
RAMP
Ocean Studios and during its course has worked on combining visual art and movement developing
The Knowing Body
. Rosie is joined by dance artists Martha Scholefield, Paula Hocking and visual artist Emily Chung (also artist in Residence with RAMP) who have worked to a collective beat co-creating movement and art material.

Plymouth Comedy Tours: Indoors | Barbican Theatre
May 2, 2025 (UTC+0)ENDED
Plymouth
Due to popular demand, Plymouth’s favourite (only) comedy walking tour is going back indoors! Join three multi-award winning comedians for an evening of stand-up and silliness as they explore the lighter side of life in Britain’s Ocean City. It’s daft, funny and not to be missed. In 2021, three Plymouth comedians were forced out of work by the pandemic. In an attempt to stay sane and put spicy spuds on the table they banded together to create Plymouth Comedy Tours. A walking tour company with the difference where they took groups around the city, telling jokes rather than facts. Three years on Plymouth Comedy Tours have welcomed over 1000 guests, been given over 150 five-star Tripadvisor reviews and has been featured on BBC Radio 4’s Front Row as a cultural highlight in the city. Now, they have decided to bring the PCT magic indoors! After two sell out shows in November 2024, our three comics will return to the stage at the Barbican Theatre to explore a different side of Plymouth. Laughing at the good, bad and ugly of our underrated seaside city. Discover more about the ‘Real Plymouth’. Find out about life in the city, exploring Plymouth traditions, the way of life and the people who live here. Expect jokes, questionable ‘facts’ and plenty of mentions of the ‘Private Shop’. The three comics involved are Suzy Bennett, David Arnold and Christian Russell-Pollock. All three comics perform nationwide, have won a host of comedy awards and have supported some of the UK’s biggest comedy names.
