They want attention, snuggles, to be brushed, and this session is just that; a chill casual time with the animals. Also our cheapest option, and most intimate. No minimum group size requirement. Summerville is where we now call home, which is a historic town about 30 min outside of Charleston. Many folks are surprised with our mini-farm being in an urban setting. We are unique because this city was built up around our 1870's farmhouse. This area was once all farm land and we are the little pocket thats left. We also offer guest rooms in our historic farmhouse as a farm stay for overnight guests. Guests can enjoy a unique urban farm, are invited to our events, and can play with the animals pretty much anytime! In addition, in 2020 we bought 23 acres and built a tiny off-grid treehouse in Western NC, and built a pasture for our adult highland cows. We now rent that out to guests as well! Guests get the 23 acres and the cows all to themselves! Welcome to Flowertown Charm Farm, an urban mini farm located in Summerville, SC right outside of Charleston. We are a husband & wife team, Chris & Jenna Pelayo both born and raised in Hawaii, and moved to the mainland where we could afford our dream of doing the following... Follow us @flowertowncharm to see what babies we have at the farm! We are known for our goat yoga classes, farm snuggle sessions, marshmallow roasts, and almost a dozen other fun farm experiences we have been hosting here since 2018! We also have guest rooms in our historic 1870's farm stay where folks from all over the world have come to stay with us. We sell our farm goods like chicken eggs, raw honey, homemade goat milk soaps, etc .And we have learned to make a living from our love of our farm & home. We often get visitors to our mini farm who want advice on where to start their own farms, so we thought we should start a class on it! The class will be 2 hours long, completely hands on, free range, up close and personal to the goats and chickens, and we will teach you all about them! We currently raise registered Nigerian Dwarf Goats for goat milk & breeding, and have a variety of fun chicken breeds for both laying and breeding. We also have on our farm Mini Scottish Highland cows, bunnies, donkey, honey bee hives, barn cats, and Great Pyrenees, @winterthefarmdog The focus will be on the goats and chickens for this class. You will learn the daily care, maintenance, housing, feeding, water systems, supplies/medicines, bedding, breeds, where to start, pros/cons, and what they can provide for you. We want you to leave here ready to go get your first chickens or goats, or even go home with one ;) We will have baby goats born here around spring & fall + we are also currently hatching silkie chicks. They will be for sale if you are ready to take the leap! This class is meant for folks 14+, as it will be mostly talking, learning, and answering questions. We do offer "farm snuggles sessions" that are more geared for children. We still teach facts at snuggle sessions its just not as in depth as an intro class. Watermelon Carving with Goats Class at Flowertown Charm Farm Tickets Required, Limited Seating. This event does sell out quickly. Come visit our urban mini-farm, Flowertown Charm Farm, in Summerville, South Carolina to Carve a Watermelon in the company of our friendly goats and their farm friends! We were the FIRST to start Goat Yoga here in the Lowcountry back in 2018, and since then, we have been expanding to have the most unique & fun goat experiences! Guests will each get a watermelon to carve into a Jack-O-Melon. We have tall tables and chairs in our backyard farm to carve on, and then feed the scraps right to the goats at your feet. Our highland cows, chickens, farm dogs, bunny, and giant tortoise will also be there to help clean up all the watermelon mess, although they all will be acting like pigs ;)! Things well get a little sticky and messy, we have wet wipes, hand sanitizer, and water to wash off with. This is summer, so flies may also join, just part of the farm! If you or your child think hungry animals is too much for them, we suggest booking our "farm snuggle session" instead. This event is more "wild" vs our snuggle sessions are more "cute and cuddly". Included: 1 average size watermelon to carve and take home, or just feed it to the animals. We will provide carving utensils, carving stencils to choose from, and time to spend with our silly farm animals. You may also BYOB. No outside food or watermelons permitted. You may bring your own carving tools if you have special ones you like or if you have a stencil you want to bring. Please dress to get a little messy, we cannot promise the goats won't try to rub the mess on you and this is still a farm. Also PLEASE wear closed toes shoes. We only have about 20-ish people here at one time for watermelon carving so it’s much more intimate, less crowded, and enjoyable than many other events around the Lowcountry. Well behaved kids only!
