Locarno Film Festival | Locarno
Celebration
The Locarno Film Festival is Switzerland's most important film event and one of Europe's most prestigious. It features four sections: International Competition (Concorso Internazionale), Contemporary Cinema (Cineasti del Presente), Tomorrow's Leopard (Pardi di Domani), and First Feature, showcasing a wide range of films. The festival's heart is the evening screenings held in the magnificent Piazza Grande, transforming the square into a "beautiful open-air cinema." Producers, directors, and actors whose films are screened in Locarno walk the red carpet, adding a dazzling touch to the festival. In addition to the Piazza Grande, 12 other cinemas throughout the city also host screenings. Between screenings, forums, and drinks, there are numerous opportunities for entertainment and fun: the Ascona-Locarno region, with its lakes, rivers, botanical gardens, valleys, and mountains, promises unforgettable moments.
