This award-winning sculpture by Barnaby Evans, standing above three rivers in downtown Providence, has been unanimously praised by Rhode Island residents and international tourists alike, and is considered a powerful work of art and a moving symbol of Providence's resurgence. WaterFire, with its more than eighty glittering bonfires, fragrant wood smoke, flickering flames on arched bridges, silhouettes of firefighters walking past the flames, torch boats sailing along the river, and captivating music from around the world, evokes all the senses and emotions of everyone strolling along the waterfront promenade. WaterFire has inspired the imaginations of over ten million visitors, invigorating the downtown area and giving new life to Rhode Island's capital.
