Join Dr. Jacquelyn Markham in a transformative poetry workshop titled "When the 'Heat of Feeling Warms the Intellect'." This workshop will delve into the intricate relationship between form and content within poetic expression. Whether you struggle with finding the perfect shape for your poem or are curious about the ideal form to convey your experiences, this workshop is designed to enhance your creative process. Inspired by the wisdom of renowned poets Denise Levertov and Mary Oliver, we will explore various poetic containers, ranging from organic form to free verse and formal patterns such as the cinquain and rondeau. Through these exercises, you will witness your experiences take on new dimensions and meaning. This workshop is ideal for language enthusiasts who yearn to articulate their encounters through the power of words. Regardless of your writing proficiency, you will gain valuable insights into the process of expressing the intricate tapestry of Levertov's "constellations of experience." Ensure to reserve your spot as seats are limited to 15 participants. Please note that a minimum of five participants is required for the workshop. The workshop will take place on Tuesday, December 12, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the esteemed Pat Conroy Literary Center in Beaufort, South Carolina. The registration fee is $45 per person.
